I know they'll be out of most people's price range (but then so is the quality and performance), but would anyone be interested in a group buys of DMS:

Why not go with a good set of springs and adjustable shocks instead of a lower end set of coilovers?
Just a thought

Because unless you're prepared to spend upwards of $3k on a decent coilover setup, you're getting a cheap and nasty damper insert in a fancy strut leg, and you'd be FAR better off getting something like a Bilstein/Eibach setup.Im shopping for coilovers and have my eyes set on a set of TEINS, how is your product that much better to cost almost double?
If you're paying roughly $1.5k, if means the value of the damper insert is roughly $600-700 (take away the springs, strut tops, threaded tubes etc). You may as well get some OEM or KYB for that sort of dollars. Very very few coilover setups under $2.5-$3k will have any sort of worthwhile damper in them, and a non-adjustable Bilstein will vastly out perform.
If you want $1.5k worth of dampers (that is, anything that's actually worth upgrading to) in a coilover setup, then you need to spend upwards of that $2.5-$3k range. Tarmac and gravel rally championships are won on DMS... They're certainly not won on street* Tein...
I say 'street' Tein, because Tein actually manufacture one of the best quality suspension setups in the world, call Tein Gr.N:
TEIN Gr.N
We actually looked at importing them, but each vehicle set is worth about $17k landed direct out of Tein, so we couldn't justify the capital outlay. It's such a specialised product that there's only a hand full of distributors for it in the world allowed to sell it (and Fulcrum is definitely NOT one of them!). It sounds expensive, but they're actually about half the price of equivalent Ohlins or Reigers, and it's just a pity that the rubbish coilovers that Fulcrum and Ebay sellers bring into Australia, give what is actually a world class motorsport suspension manufacturer, such a bad name...

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?

Yep just like that!
Not a bad deal actually, how much for just the shocks? (I already have eibachs!)
The billies on their own would be $1125.
Wow...thanks for the info mate.
Back to the drawing board for me then
If the TEINS are not worth my 2k....then i rather save a bit more and get something worthy.
Cheers
i want STIFFER... i want Tien Super Streets =D
I must say something about the bad reviews for the pedders xa coilovers. I was the first to get these in my car and it was the best mod I have ever done. ever.
I think they are the bc units with a different spring or something but I've had no problems and they are not overly hard like some other brands.
I would recommend them to anyone.
+1 thats what I have and they are great
Wow i started this thread and i'm more confused than ever, so many options and such a large price range.

Everything will have a bad review somewhere I suppose.
I have some bad news about the Drummonds,
They are too expensive,
Man there was some reading I'm surprised people get things done, I wouldn't know where to start after reading all that, I was only saying to Troy (2XS) today about manifolds and doing some improvements and made the biggest mistake in talking to people and now more confused just when I was ready to move forward I've taking two steps back and re evaluating everything.. ( I'm so confused )..... Like doing things right the first time.......
I think the easiest way to sum it up is, if you are spending less than about 2k on coilovers you will be better off with upgraded shocks and springs.
why would you be? I ended up paying $1280 for my coilovers, I now will never buy anything else, any new car I ever get my first upgrade will be coilovers, I will never buy shocks and springs instead, they are an expensive stepping stone to coilovers
I think thats debatable, I think looking at something like koni yellows and uprated springs would be very comparable though it is hard to say without testing both producs in the same car.
coilovers are fully adjustable, ride hight, stiffness, everything, you can make it just right depending on if your driving on a smooth race track or a bumpy road, springs and shocks are just there, if you dont like them bad luck cos theres nothing you can do about it, there bouncy and usually dont last as long, and if its a good product which I think the XAs are who cares if they cost $1280, $1600 or $4000, the price of things especially right now doesnt mean a great deal, some companys wont lower there price to sell products and others will.
The Pedders coilovers may not be as expensive but thats not to say that they are a bad product and you shouldnt get them cos they dont cost over $2000, thats really bad advice
One of the reasons i wan't coilovers besides the handling (and this will seem like a wank to some of you) is that you can adjust the ride height millimeter perfect to exactly how you wan't it, in the past when i've had lowered springs the car has never sat how i wanted it.
