oh god, its so easy fellas... Even a 4 year old with a paint brush and the G2 could do it.. once you have the wheels off and the car is on jack stands that is.

Heres a few pics of mine all done and some of the process, I ended up doing them gloss black with a silver/grey Mazda decal then clearcoat

Hey Mel looks really good, great work, a few questions - 1) Did you use the G2 paint that Wardski suggested? 2) Is the clearcoat heat resistant (I take it you sprayed that on by all the masking) 3) is there a central jacking point for the front and rear of the 6? or did you just raise it from the side points? and last one, was the cleaning process easy?
Cheers
Chris
Hi Chris,
I didnt use the G2 paint mainly because I had to buy it on ebay and as usual left it to the last minute to decide on colour so only had a few days to find the paint. I got it from supercheap 'Septone brake caliper paint' in a black matt and then gloss black (only really cause they didnt have . For the clear coat I got it from Repco, is was a VHT clear coat to stand up to 440 degree temp I think (there were two grades, on about 220 and one about 440).
Painted a few layers of the matt black until the colour looked like a solid black then a few layers of the gloss black, decals on then a couple of coats of the clear.
I got plastic drop sheets from Bunnings for $1.50 each and low tack (purple) masking tape, to leave no sticky surprises left on the car.
The car was jacked up two wheels at a time using a big trolley jack, rear from the middle of the car under the diff then car stands holding the car up. Front was jacked up each side at a time at normal jack points.
Cleaning was done using a drill with a wire brush type attachment, apparently its easier and wuicker than scrubbing them.
I covered each side of the car witht he plastic drop sheet masked it all off and away we went, lucky for me I had lots of helpful guys doing most of the work, I did the fronts after watching them do the rears.
Also lucky for me I found out my standard wheel brace doesnt fit my nuts on the new wheel, so I have to quickly buy myself a new wheel brace before I get a flat.

I did mine a few weeks back - used Motospray from a local auto spares outlet.
What I do is to spray some into the can's plastic cap & then use a paintbrush to apply a few coats.
Looking at the picks I think I need to clean up the rest of the hub etc. with some Silver & black paint....

Finally got around to doing mine today, used the Septone spray from Super Cheap and clear coated in the UHT stuff after the decals went on. I'm slightly annoyed at myself for not masking off the pads properly, but this can easily be fixed (later - had enough painting now!). I'm most impressed at how much better they look now compared to what they were (absolutely filthy, you couldn't even recognise the stock silver - should've taken pics!)

We used to use some of the por15 products on certain things. Its good stuff!
I just bought g2 caliper paint in black, and metallic silver mps decals, if I apply the decals onto the caliper, I will need to apply a clear coat over the top to keep them on wont I... my question is, will the clear coat stuff up the look of the g2? anybody know? if it does I just wont worry aboot the decals.
PM Hotcarstuff if you got the decals off him, pretty sure he mentioned to me that they didn't need clearcoating, but worth checking
