Thread: New MPS Owner

  1. Default New MPS Owner Now With Pictures

    Hey all,

Thought I would introduce myself. I'm Cameron from NSW and just ordered a brand new MPS for me the wife and myself.
It will mainly be the wifes daily as I got a company ute.

We've ended up with the new H Series model which I can't actually find any details on but Mazda told me it has charcoal/black rims, USB input inside and a few other touches. We've opted for the white one and should have it in about 2 weeks.

This will probably remain stock, maybe just a few suspension modifications.
I've never owned any sort of turbo before, my last few cars have been V8s.
The silver one was a cammed 5.7L with Harrop diff and few other bits and pieces and the red which I own atm is a fully built 383 stroker (550hp), heads & cam, Kaaz locker diff, HSV brakes, etc.

    Cheers

    Welcome mate!

Nice couple of V8s there. I think the VY/VZ model Commodores look great, way more aggressive than the VE series.

Make sure you post up pics of the MPS when you get it... A lot of people on here very eager to see the changes, myself included!

yeah, we've heard rumours about this new model, but cant find anything overly concrete
    @MPS2NV will love your commodores
this is a bad place to be if you want to "remain stock"

Great choice, a little different to drive over the v8 but just as much fun! Post pics and keep an eye out for weekend meets and cruises.

    Hi and welcome!

Be interesting to see your impressions on a 'small turbo car' vs driving V8 when you get it.

Hey thanks all for the comments.

Will definately get some pictures up once we get it.
I've read a few things on the Mazspeed CAI not voiding warranty? I might look into a few simple bolt ons that I can easily remove if a warranty claim is needed.

We test drove the Mps a few times; I enjoyed the torque steer and it felt quick enough. My V8 runs low 12s in full street trim and putting my foot down in 1st, 2nd and 3rd just ends with wheelspin and limiter.. So much torque.
The Mps I'm looking forward to throwing it into corners but I don't think it would be fair to compare the 2 in straight line performance.

    Cheers

think you'll be surprised at how well a MPS can go
with an exhaust and a tune they can trap ~107-108mph at the qtr

mazda aus is not very lenient with mods, but some dealers are better than others... there is no "approved" mods you can make... unfortunately...
as far as easily swappable ones, and intake and top mount intercooler will take ~30 mins to swap in and off your car

most important question... what colour you get?

hi mate, welcome awesome V8's there too, while turbo's bring a unique sound a V8 is always a V8 in the sound department. Ask any questions you have hear mate the guys on this forum know almost everything about the MPS's. look forward to seeing some pics when you get the chance. Nicely done mods on the V8's too, they look great.

Sarcastic One; Might look into a top mount cooler and tune at some stage, but this one will be staying quiet. We ordered a white one.. Not too many colours available which surprised me.

Timmy; Cheers, appreciate it. I will miss the V8 sound one I sell mine.

My current one is louder, bigger cam and way more aggressive being a 383.

None the less, looking forward to picking the new one up. My mrs is pumped as she is stuck driving my Commodore to work because we sold her Fiesta last weekend.

    Cheers!!

Hopefully have the car end of next week. Photos to come

Picked up the car at last, only have some average Iphone pictures.. Pretty happy with everything so far. Rear view mirror is trippy at night but very clever.
Differences I can tell are the wheels being black, mirrors being black and on the bottom of the wing it is also black. Has USB inside now as well.

That looks so nice! Great pickup

I wish my rear bumper had the dark insert like that.

I didn't know that the dark insert was new in the upgrade until reading it now.

Looking good mate, pull out the good camera and snap some close ups of new parts... I'd oldies are keen to see the differences.

Congrats on picking up your new car!

Any new changes inside aside from the USB connectivity?
