    Default Varex Technology

    Varex Technology
VAREX mufflers combine both the design technology of the stock muffler and the performance muffler into one single compact unit. A sophisticated butterfly valve mechanism is implemented to redirect the exhaust gas flow and vary be-tween the two.

For higher sound level, the exhaust flows are directed through the opening path and produces maximum power with a robust sound level (or the “sports car note”) and near-zero resistance. Whilst for lower sound level, the exhaust flows are directed through the chambered path (similar design with the stock muffler), and produces minimum sound level that gives you the best in-car comfort.

Angle of the valve is also controllable, which can be adjusted to stop at any point between sports mode and silence mode. This gives you further freedom to set the optimal sound level according to your desired preference.

    Varex Motor

VAREX Motor and gear sets are located on the top of the muffler, they work as an integrated unit to drive the butterfly valve open and close.
The dimensions of the motor and gear box are typically manufactured to 4.5cm(H) x 10cm(W) x 20cm(L)

Varex™ can be controlled to suit your personal needs.

    The Varex Remote controlled muffler
    Street Mode

Setting your Varex muffler in 'Street mode' enables lower sound levels and maximum discretion, as exhaust gases are directed through a chambered path as would a 'stock' muffler

    Race Mode

For greater power output and sound level, exhaust gases are directed through the opening path and produce maximum power with a robust sound level (or the 'sports car' note) and near-zero resistance.

    "Anywhere in between"

As the angle of the valve is infinitely adjustable, it can be adjusted to stop at any point between sports mode and silence mode. This gives you further freedom to set the optimal sound level according to your desired preference.

A friend of mine has one (or a similar system) on his Supercharged Commodore wagon.

He turned up at work one day with it on street and it sounded like a gutless wonder (I initially thought he brought in a different car!!), he then put it on race and revved the motor and WOW, a massive difference. I know they aren't cheap though.

I can imagine! The Varex is designed to be as quiet if not more quiet than stock, it needs to be witnessed.

I have seen something of a similar concept on sale at autobarns...

A "Y" piece with a butterfly in the middle, so you can direct exhaust flow down 1 side of the Y or the other, or both... No fancy remotes tho, cable operated.

    May not be entirely legal...

    Cheers,

    Chris.
