I only run BP 98, V-Power i was getting about 20-30km less per tank.

I would dare say that people on here that are getting better fuel consumption that you are running the original ECU Flash from Mazda.

When i first got mine, I was getting pretty good consumption and good power, took it back to mazda for the second service and it came back with crappy consumption and a lot less boost.(To my knowledge there hasn't been an updated program released since).

As your's is a 2006 one, it would have come from factory with version 2 of the software.

If you want extra power and better fuel, get a standback and i'll give you my tune. Knock the boost back a bit and you should be right. Actually MPS Garage have my tune, so they should be able to ship it out with it on it!

    Cheers for the help mate

Ive been debating an aftermarket tune for the MPS.

My WRX was ECUTEK'd (aftermarket tune on standard ECU) and it greatly improves power and fuel economy. Very impressed.

Ill have to look into what NON WARRANTY VOIDING ECU FLASH options there are for me.

    Thanks mate

So, have gone through another tank of fuel.

Now some might think i am lying about these figuers but hey its what i got.

Filled up a full tank last time and a full tank this time.
    526kms to 54.20Litres = 10.304 Litres per 100kms
Trip computer said AVG= 10.8. (wroong)

After my track day last Saturday...naturally I had my worst figures to date..

    34.56 ltrs....356ks = 9.70ltrs per 100ks

    I was running BP98 with a octane booster...I don't think the figures are that bad...since I average between 6.2-6.5ltrs per 100..

They sound about right, I mostly get Caltex or Mobil 8000
On highway trips I avg 9L/100kms and my average showing on my comp is 11.2. The MPS6's get great fuel economy in my opinion for the car you are getting. The other week 100k trip from Canberra to Wakefield, both Lynchy's and my needle hadnt moved off full, the 2 RX8 guys with us used 1/3 of a tank

Nice. Cruising on highway i seem to get about the 8-9 mark.

Mate! I think you need mental help after that! 9.7per100 is just not acceptable on a track day.....
Or.. thats awesome you should be well pleased with that! 9.7 on a track day... thats crazzy

    Thats great!

Just filled up yesterday with my MPS 6- (again it might be hard to believe but this is what i got...)

343KMS to 32.55L !!! - Driving included, Extra Urban (sea front esplanades etc, dense city and normal city driving, note- cruising at 60kph for about 10-15kms of it, which computer said 6.5L per 100kms current econ)

Trip computer is WAY OFF! -
Was showing average fuel economy of 10.2 L per 100kms when in fact (going by how many kms i got to 32L's)
    i averaged 9.48L per 100kms!

Since my last tank of fuel i had done the following to improve economy etc:

    1. Used MAF Cleaner on MAF
    2. Took out the plastic restrictor in the air box
    3. Took off the in guard resonator
    4. Used LUCAS injector cleaner \ fuel treatment (refer to pic)
    5. Vacuumed the floor mats (weight reduction lol)

I get the big bottles of this stuff, bout $20.00 for a litre i think. Use about 100ml per 60L's of fuel

Ive managed 350km for half a tank of the MPS with mixed driving.

Its only done 400km so far and it is already better on fuel than my SP23 lol.

I've clocked just over 2,000 in mine and I've got the average down to 9.6. I don't do a lot of inner city diving but my trip to work each day is often at a crawl (worst than inner city for stop start potential). Melbourne's freeways are completely stuffed. So I'm pretty pleased with it's consumption and I don't drive like a nancy boy either.

My avg fuel economy on my MPS6 now sits on 10.8 which I think is sensational considering the weight of my right foot
