Thread: Hi to all...

  1. Default Hi to all...

    ...yep another noob.

Hey everyone I've just purchased a 2008 MPS Sports pack with 40k on the clock.

I've done a few K's now and I'm loving it.

Already looking into MODS! I've had a look in the sections on here and I'm a little over whelmed with all the different mods.

If anyone can help me out where to start? I'm looking at new intake, exhaust, BOV and chip or tuning.

i have no budget and only want top quality parts.

    Any help guys/girls?

    Hi and welcome

A good place to start is with some handling mods. That way you can get what power you have to the ground better before increasing it.

Would highly recommend a good rear engine mount. You'll notice the difference straight away in terms of feeling more connected to the engine and improvement in gear change feel.

Several good brands around such as Cpe, Sure, TRZ etc. Duro rating is dependant on whether you care about vibes. The higher the rating, the more rigid the mount, the more vibes, but also the more effective the mount.

Rear sway bar upgrade is another good handling upgrade. Helps with understeer and will let you get the power down better out of corners

    Hey mate.

    Where are you located?

Troy (2XS) makes some good gear for the mps and is a forum vendor, I would hit him up with your requirements for a start.

For tuning it depends on what you are looking for. Do you want an interceptor type tune or a flash tune?

    to ozmps
love your choice of car what colour?

intake either 2XS (troy) or get a MZR SRI
dump pipe (first half of exhaust) i would suggest hitting up 2XS
for an intercooler, depends if you want a front mount or top mount
2XS makes a great front mount
hyperflow does a fantastic top mount

hyperflow/2XS/MZR are all aus made and they provide fantastic service

rear engine mount should be high on the list as well

for a tune, tunehouse do a fantastic job

    Welcome

As everyone has said so far, definelty hit 2XS up for some pricing for an intake and dump pipe as some nice gains to be had there.

Enjoy your car and the forum, great people here who are always willing to help out.

    Yeah, what they all said.

Where do you want to start?

How fast do you want to go?

Do you track it? (or want to?)

    Id do the following...

    Stage 1;
*Intake (Short Ram or Cold Air)
*Lowered springs (Stops so much bloody roll!)
*Rear sway bar (Tighten turn in)
*Aftermarket rear motor mount (Cleaner shifts into third particularly, better power to ground, less wheel hop)

    Stage2
    *Dump pipe
*Flash tune (Either Hypertech or go for a custom one - more $$$ and can go custom later)

    Stage3
    *Adjustable shocks (Koni Yellows maybe)
    *Intercooler
    *Complete exhaust

    Stage4
    *Upgrade to wider rims/rubber
    *Custom flash
*Aftermarket turbo (BNR Stage 3 maybe?)
    *Engine internals
    -Water meth injection
**What ever other crazy things you can think of!

    Welcome and enjoy!

If you want a look see, check the cruises section for up coming meets.. just about everyone here would be willing to take you for a fang and, show off and talk about their mods
Also a great opportunity to meet lots of great people

hell yeah boys, bloody frothing now...

i think I'll do the 'sensible' thing and beef up the handling.

I'm thinking lowering with good suspension and strut braces front and rear. What should i get and where do i get?

Also wanna upgrade the braking system but don't think i wanna mess up the abs. Just good pads better discs and lines?

    cheers again lads

Front bracing isnt really needed, have a look at how close the brace would be to the firewall, rear sway makes sense though!

In regards to pads, id go with the QFM A1RM's you can order these through Greg @ GSL Rallysport (Forum Sponsor).
Lines should be fine, but id look at some aftermarket fluid if you are looking to give them a hard time, Greg should be able to recommend.

    Enjoy!

would you loose boot capacity? is the brace exposed and come straight across? any photos?

is it worth getting new drilled/slotted discs?
