Thread: Mazda 6 write off!

  1. #1

    Post Mazda 6 write off!

My partner was held up in traffic because of this crash on the M1 about a week or so ago. 5 car pile up. Mazda 6 took the worst of it. There was a baby in the back at the time but escaped with no harm.

Mate at Mazda sent us some pics, thought i would share with you all, as i am pretty happy with the way the cabin held up under the obvious amount of stress the car underwent.

Take a squiz. Yes that is the front of the truck in the rear of the car.

    Latool- far from normal

Wow the cabin did hold up pretty well considering the looks of the impact from the truck.

Might be some cheap MPS6 inside bits ... leather seats etc and looks like the wheels are ok too

Don't think its an MPS. Wheels are different. But yeah if a normal 6 can hold up to that the MPS6 with the extra tuff rear support should be great! lol.. Not that im gonna go crashing it anytime soon but it aids my peace of mind

Not an argument you will win.

    Correct wheels.

Correct exhaust, you can even see the MPS exhaust surround in the pic of the rear end.

Oh and the pic with the bonnet up you can just see the MPS bulge.

Pretty scary stuff, another reason not to buy chinese made cars, as the outcome would have been very different...

Wow, that is a seriously big impact, glad to know that our cars our engineered so well and good that no one was hurt. Is very reassuring as I cart my kids around too!

Hi. This was my car! Only joined the Mazda forums today because I am deciding on my next car, and surprise ... here is my car.

I can confirm, this was a beautiful 2006 Mazda 6 MPS. I loved that car... Looks like a 2 now! But I didn't have my kids in the back, just the booster seat. The back seats didn't hold up as well as the front though and were very damaged, glad the kids weren't back there. I got out with little injury.

Sorry to see your MPS in such a state. What a pity. I'm sure there's a few people eying off parts; I'd be into it for the transfer case and AWD bits myself....

Here are my pictures from the scene. Not sure what parts would still be useful, although the wheels and tyres did ok. It's at Pickles at Acacia Ridge.

WHat happened to the truck driver? Was he tail gaiting and couldn't stop in time? Hope he gets prosecuted , nothing worse than having a truck or 4wd for that matter with a great big bull bar trying to intimidate you on the roads.

As a fellow Liquid Silver 6 MPS owners, that photo brings a tear to my eye!

Hi Jegi, I don't know what happened to the driver yet but the police were not happy with him. He was actually a fair way behind me, I guess he was not watching...

It brings a tear to my eye as well, I loved that car. Not sure if another MPS 6 will ever replace it.

Very lucky your kids were not in the back seat sparkee.. Cars can be replaced, lives cannot. Any ideas on what to replace it with?

I drove an RX-8 yesterday, but not sure. I am looking at another MPS though, or maybe an SS, Civic Type R. I am posting another thread for suggestions.
