    Default Targa Tasmania - 2011

    Targa Tasmania starts tomorrow.

I thought this thread could be to track the event.

The factory Mazda team will have 3 cars completing this year.

A gen 2 MPS (with a better colour scheme than last year) driven by Brendan Reeves.

and 2 RX8 SP's driven by Jamie Vanderberg and Steve Glenney

The offical targa website is here

    Targa Tasmania Home

    and Mazda's here

Mazda Australia Zoom-Zoom - Targa Tasmania

And Luke from Mazda explaining the event

    doing decently so far
love the output of the rx8 sp tho
215kw and 345NM, sounds like a good car
have a feeling it might be tuned for a better mid-range than top end tho... as all rotary dyno's i've seen with 300+NM have had ~240-250 kw

that one is a supercharger equiped RX8 just as a FYI
fudging a bit of numbers, if they are keeping the 9000rpm redline in the RX8, the car cant be making more than 230NM @ 9000rpm
the maximum rpm they can be making 345NM at (whilst keeping it at 215kw) is 6000 rpm
wonder if we ask nicely if they'll give us dyno graphs

Mazda does a good job with these but if anyone has Lukes number can you tell him to get out there on the road even it is a cross from him (in the studio) to himself (on the ground).

Sounds like Mazda need to develop their own twincharge setup

hhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm................................ . been following the Targa Tasmania (and NRL) news and notice the orange colors used in the Reeves & Smyth Mazda 3 MPS has a striking resemblance to the Electric Orange so prominent in Cairn's very own Madaz (belonging to Col/You Lose). Col looks like he has also been giving some color advice to Billy Slater whose orange boots were also prominent in Melbourne Storm's thumping of the doggies last week.

Guys, have you realised that the scheme has changed out goes the orange and in comes yellow.

Steve Glenney appeared to have issues in the rx8 and has dropped down the list.

The MPS appear to still be going strong.

I understand in the showroom class cars remain pretty much stock with minor mods allowed to suspension, brake pads and some safety items. Not sure if tune is ok or not.

there's a vid here of the R from Targa, sounds alright for only 1 exhaust tip

If the link doesn't work, it's because the YT nazi's at work don't let me view it,

    R36 - Just like an MPS6 except with a growly V6
