Default Vibration/shaking through the steering wheel when braking at speed

    Hi all,

I searched but couldn't find anything similar ...

I'm experiencing vibration/shaking through the steering wheel when braking even lightly at higher speeds (90+ kmh) - it is fine when driving at suburban speeds (though for some around here 90+ is suburban speed ).

Anyone any ideas what it could be ?

    I'm driving a 08 MPS3 with 31,00 k's.

    Thanks,
    Allan

    I had the same problem.
You need to machine or replace your front disc rotors

I am putting my money on your rotors needing machining, I had to get it done on my 6mps last year with the same type of vibration.

Rotors need to be machined or replaced, or you need your wheels balanced.

Thanks for the fast response Gents !

If it is a problem with the rotors would this be covered under Warranty ? I still have a couple of months to go ....

I have that but the whole car shakes, mine is definately the rotors and pads being installed incorrectly originally and a few months later they were changed and installed correctly they now do this shaking... But I get it both at high speeds 100+ and really low speeds 20-.

You could try and get it under warranty because 31,000 is quite low... But you will probably be declined as it is regular wear and tear of the car. I am no expert on warranty claims mind you.

you probably just have DTV or warped disks, get them machined its not that expensive replace the pads with something decent while you are there

    100% it's the rotors.
Warranty will cover brakes up to 20,000kms I think.
Word of advice, because of the soft nature of the discs, don't machine them. Replace them with aftermarkets...
