    Default Whiteline Rear Swaybar

Tired of waiting for the corksport one, I ordered a rear swaybar from whiteline.

    This one to be exact:
Whiteline BMR88Z Rear Swaybar 27mm-heavy duty Blade adjustable

2 point adjustable, poly bushings. No grease points. A simple, effective single piece swaybar.

    Service:
Good! I ordered it online, and it was delivered the following day.

    Installation:
A breeze, took about 20 minutes. If you can do a rear engine mount, you can do this.

    First Impressions:
I have only tried 1 setting so far, the hard one. The balance of the car has changed significantly from very washy understeer to a much more twitchy, responsive feel. Under hard cornering the car feels like it wants to lift its inner rear tyre off the road it's that stiff. I can't wait to give it a go at the track, driving around town you can only try so much. Previously if I hit a corner a bit too hard, the front outer tyre would bear all the load and give way far too early. Now both front tyres squeal as the car feels like its going to cock its back leg.

Will update if/when i CBF changing the setting, or when I get the car to the track.

I don't know if I want to have my wheel come up off the ground on hard cornering and braking, I nearly unbolted my rear swaybar on one side on the wet track on Tuesday to try and keep the rear balanced and flat, but couldn't be bothered.... But I am thinking about upgrading them ?????

I Don't know what kind of MPS you're driving that struggles for rear end grip, when I was at the track in the wet my front was pushing wide worse than ever. But yea, the hard setting is taking things pretty far. Ill put it on the softer setting sometime and see how it compares, but the way I have it now it certainly isnt tail happy, it's still tending towards understeer which is what I want.

They charged me like $12 postage as well, so $297 delivered.

Don't know why you want more rear end grip anyway. Lift off oversteer = hilarious!

    Another alternative to the corksport one;

    James Barone Racing

The Jbarone one looks even better than the Corksport one, very similar kind of design. The whiteline one is a lot simpler and functionality wise, a swaybar is a swaybar really, they only vary in stiffness.

There's Pros and cons of both types, JB/CS ones are more adjustable and have nicer bushings, the whiteline one is 1 piece (ie: no welds) very simple but only has 2 points of adjustment but doesn't have greasable bushings. Not that theres much that can fail with swaybars but I would say the Whiteline one will be more durable thanks to its simplicity.

I'd like to get some torque figures on the Whiteline one just for comparisons sake, the Corksport one talks in terms of % stiffness compared to stock, JB talks in torque figures and whiteline just says its "stiffer" than stock, now i've got the whiteline one I can certainly independently verify this claim, but it would be good to know how the 3 compare. When theyre adjustable tho you can be assured there will be a bit of crossover between them.

Is it OK to just do the back and not the front as well. I want to do something similar with my 6MPS but am concerend I need to balance with the front and as far as I know, whiteline dont make a front end swaybar for the 6.

Not necessary at all, I only did the rear on mine. Doing the front as well would put me back where I started at the understeer capital of the world.

Id say the JBarone bar is well priced too. Considering the AUD is still pretty strong at the moment $255 shipped is a fair price.

Ive just got juat a rear whiteline swaybar on my MPS6 ... but be warned its not a simple 20 minute job on he MPS6 its is hours and hours of labour as the whole rear end needs to be dropped out to fit it

Ive also got a front strut brace, which to me seems balanced

Took the car for another quick spin this afternoon, railing corners is MUCH more fun now than it was before, you can really chuck it in and get on the power earlier now. Before anything like that would just wash the front end out in a very unsatisfying way.

The power mods I have make me giggle when I boot it, when the car was stock it didn't do this. The swaybar makes the car bring a smile to my face when I rail a corner now. It's smiles all round.

I am going to be in heaven once she's tuned. The car will be EXACTLY what I wanted from the beginning, not merely a compromise, the perfect car for me to the letter.

ALWAYS a rear swaybar first on a FWD or AWD car. Then go from there. I doubt you'll need a front bar.

On dry bitmen, in a FWD, it's not always a bad thing... Actually makes the front end more responsive on turn in, which really is the only time it should happen, as it when you've loaded the front outside the most by being hardest on the brakes and trying to shift weight to the outside. Mid corner and exit it should never happen...

Side note, our price on the bar is $259 plus delivery.

Just checked your site..im guessing Whiteline.
Would there be much difference in the Whiteline (27mm), compared to the JBarone (32mm)??

Hi Reedy, Just wondering with the polyurethane mounting bushes does Whiteline supply new D brackets or did you just use the OEM ones that were already on the old swaybay?

Oh and have you got any pics? also would love your impressions of the Whiteline swaybar set to its softer setting compared against the factory swaybar.

    thanks

You re-use the D brackets that come with the car.

I Just set it to the softer setting and went for a drive, I didn't like it that much. It wasn't all that different to the stock swaybar. The hard setting is very different and a lot sharper, the soft setting still loads the tyres up unevenly in sharp turns and understeers badly.

    pics incoming, gimme 10 mins.
