    Quality issues...

    - Engine mount (rectified via recall)
    - Waterpump
    - Turbo seals (amended turbo fitted from mid 07 onwards)
    - Shock absorbers
    etc etc

When in 07 was yours built? Anything after Jul-Aug 07 is generally sorted (mine is Nov 07 build and a very sweet car). And they do torque steer, but I don't mind that!

I don't think the torque steer is a serious issue. You can actually use it as a form of feed back on how much power to feed in etc. It is definitely no worse than some of the turbo FWD cars from the 80s-90s eg MX6 turbo. Plus it is still safer in the wet than a hi-po RWD! (I know I will be flamed for that comment!!)

Waterpump? Never had any problems with mine.
Turbo seals, only heard of one problem with them and that was when someone started fiddling with exhausts and pressures etc.
Shocks, no problem I'm aware of.
Engine mount, was purely a shorter bolt, but yeah, that was a potential nasty one there.
As for etc etc, if there was more details, I'd like to know.

I don't mind the torque steer as it's manageable. It's purely a sign that the car is putting out all the power it needs to jiffle itself along faster, and I like that!

sounds like that if they have made a significant improvement on the track that they concentrated more on handling and controlling the power at the wheels with the new traction system. i was going to wait for an 09 model but was to impatient hehe. but like some of u guys have said i like this one cause it is a bit more of a sleeper. once u start putting bonnet scoops on things the cops seem to really notice!!! i know this first hand. my previous car was a nissan pulsar gti-r lol

Hopefully your right there Junglist and they do focus more on the control of the power it puts out.

I like the sound of that...., even better handling and more efficient putting the power down, who knows the new car might be able to get the full boost in 1st and 2nd gear

Peak Power output is for talking, torque is for winning.

If it makes the same power on less fuel that's a pretty significant improvement. Anyway it's not about numbers, it's how it performs on the road. You don't necessarily need a 200Kw badge to be quicker than a WRX.

Not saying you need the badge, just think it would make a nice touch ...

Sure, I was referring to the output rather than the badge per se. A 190 kw Mazda can go harder than a 307 kw Holden or a 307 kw Chrysler, or a 206 kw Subaru, or a 245 kw Toyota, or a 260 kw Ford, or I better stop before I get myself in trouble.

    Gotta agree there!
My MPS is the first Turbo-charged car I had ever driven, and I was hooked on the test-drive!!
My missus nearly pooed her pants the first time she put her foot down in it, she didn't understand what torque-steer was. I still remember her laughing like a little kid as the MPS rocketed down the on-ramp to the freeway!
The car is just so much fun to drive, even over the few dramas and quirks it has.

Don't think I'd rush to replace it with another MPS...be more likely to keep my one, and up-grade the missus' 06 Maxx Sport hatch once the new one has been out for a while.

I'd like to see a manual version of the CX-7 come out, give it the MPS work-over....

The chick from Mazda at the Driver training day I attended, reckons they would have sold more MPS's if there was an auto option - Blasphemy!!!

I wonder how hard it would be to shoehorn the box from an MPS into a CX-7....

Of course your going to say that. All the money you have spent on the car to get that 233kw in your signature (impressive as hell, by the way), it's natural that you will defend it to the death, and no car will ever live up to yours. Doesn't make it so for the rest of us.

Exactly. Peak power stands for naught if your sitting at the bottom of the curve until the last thou of the RPM. That spike isn't going to do F all unless you can stay there the whole time.

Well, as far as I am concerned I am defending the 3MPS in it's own right. Has it not been kicking the living shiite out of all of the other hatches for some time now, topping the list for handling, quality and performance? I have no idea what you are on about, if you think it is crap then get rid of yours (or don't get one if you don't have one) and move on. Do you own one? Problem is the evidence is that this an all round good car when stacked up against everything else out there. You don't know me from a bar of soap pal so don't presume to understand my motivations. I am just sick and tired of going on to Mazda forums just to listen to whingers bag a car that is a proven standout in the market.
