Thread: Foglights - gutted out custom lower grille with d.r.l

Default Foglights - gutted out custom lower grille with d.r.l

So as some of you know I have been talking about this for a while now!!!

But finally got this all complete now……….

Idea for the Mod came from seeing the latest Audi's/Merc's & even now Holdens with Daytime Running Lamps (D.R.L's) and wanting the same look and also when looking at the factory black plastic foglight surrounds seeing no air getting through these to 1. the C.A.I & 2. The brake ducts. So wanted to combine the two into the one mod.

    - So Basiclly whats involved is removing black surrounds.
    - Removing foglights & mounting brackets.
    - Gutting/Cutting the plastic out in the front bar.
    - Making a mould housing for the DRL.
    - Meshing the Lower Grille.
    - Painting Lower Grille in Black.
    - Hooking up DRL to factory foglight wiring.

PIC's from i-PHONE so not good quality

Yeah removing the foggys for more air intake as certainly helped (in that you look from filter in the engine bay, and can see much more light/ ground through the front bottom corner)

Painting the inside has crossed my mind……….however you cant tell / or see the silver from looking at the car (only up close in photo you can tell)

KRNAGE has done it to his car, looks real good and functional too.

KLEEMO, Hi, is your grille the same fibreglass one that ROGWICK has?
I'm happy to see yours as it answered my query yesterday as to how good it would look in Liquid Silver to match the rest of my car.

Yeah my Grillle is the same figerglass grille as Rogwick's!!!

Its letting my car down atmo (cracking after only months) I think its just a cheap part that maybe wasnt preped correctly so the paint isnt sticking to it!!!

WIll order some Carbon Fibre film this week and see how that turns out!!!

Maybe if the front have a mesh on it... Great photo shopping, but doesn't look good.

Where did you get the DRL's from/off ? Cost ?
    Looks great, factory and tidy
I too have been thinking of removing my fog lights, ('05 SP23) i don't use them and its not workign with the colour scheme i got
May set them up behind the bottom grill if the mounting works well

Hey Kleemo, how hard was it to attach the meshing and to cut??? Im thinking of replacing the black foglight surrounds on my GEN1 with a meshing and putting a water proof fiber under that.
