Thread: Any idea how to fix a slightly displaced lip?

  1. #1

Question Any idea how to fix a slightly displaced lip?

Took the car up to the central coast last weekend and accidentally rubbed the front lip on some dirt when it was a bit muddy.

I managed to wash the mud off, pick out the rocks/leaves from the gap but it seems the plastic has bent out of shape a little (compared to the left side).

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

(right - where the gap is)

I'm also worried that I cracked the lip at the front, but I'm not sure if the car was like this to begin with.
Do any of the 3MPS stock lips have that slot in the middle?

Yes that lip is in two pieces.

Have a look under the car, 2 things can happen.
Pop a clip out or the rivet has pulled through.

So you can drill out the rivet and replace it - bugger of a job, and they are a special rivet.
    You can replace the clip.
Or do as i did, put a screw and washer through it.

    Thanks bd581,

Guess its a good thing that it's in 2 pieces.
Will have to take a proper look during the weekend.

If you grub it along a dirt surface, some soil or small pebbles will be forced into and lodge between the two mating/attachment surfaces and needs to be removed by a thin blade and/or washing before it will sit flush again.

I was going to suggest kicking the other side till it matches but that's a much better idea Doug
