    Default RX8 wheels on your Mazda MPS

    Seeming I am responsible for hijacking a different thread (sorry tricache), I thought it would be the only responsible thing to do to move this discussion to its own thread.

    It's been done before on other sites, but those of you with RX8 rims (current or previous) on their MPS, post some pics and details!

    - Colour choice? (did you paint em yourself?)
    - tyre size and choice?

    My research shows the most popular tyre size for them in the States is 225/40/18 to allow for lowering of the car. What do you have?

    And for those that would like to know:
    Gen 1 RX8 wheels (original 5 spoke) are:
    - 18x8"
    50 offset
    wt = 22lb (FYI Gen 1 3 MPS are 24lb, Gen 2 are 24.6lb, 6 MPS are ???)

    Thanks for your input!

    Tom

    I think the RX8 rims maybe no good for me I need to keep 235's or bigger for traction... and I don't really want to turn my lips up... I will see how you go Tom.

    I have purchased a set of RX8 rims here in Cairns from a girl whose updated her red RX8 to a set of chromies. I left a stalking letter under her windscrean asking if she'd like to sell her original rims, and so $700 later I have them.

    Some slight gutter damage on a 10cm stretch on one wheel, less on the rest.
    Am considering painting them, so I'm open to ideas and suggestions.

    You'd be fine with 235's I'm sure. There are many running up to 245's on them. This one has 245/40/18;

    Well through my tyre dealer I'm looking at $750 for the rims which I thought was good buying and I have already passed a lead to a member, they are suppose to be in good condition....I think they were looking for $1000 to start with....

    Probs with rolled guards...

    Well my rims are +46 offset they should see how Brad goes.....

    $750 sounds good to me. Especially if they give a deal with tyres

    While searching for some pics online I came across this one. For me it highlights how good these RX8's look.

    Great thread!

    They sure do, I walked into Grand Prix Mazda 2 weeks ago and walked to a VR MPS3 and the guys yelled out to me that they were colour matched to the GT rims and painted for the client because he wasn't going to pay the price they wanted for the rims
    I think they charged the client $500 to paint the MPS rims, a lot cheaper way of doing it when they are so close to looking the same, made me walk up to the car in pre delivery section..

    I really like that gun-metal color.

    I think I read somewhere in the forum that someone paid $110 a rim to get it painted.

    Was looking at changing my current tyres over onto the RX8 rims as a short term solution (as Troy did). Got quoted $100 ($25 per wheel) balanced and fitted. Does this sound reasonable?
