I went with the HPX above.. I noticed yesterday that it is only the drivers side brake that squeeks when you tap the break lightly... Should I take it back to get the installer to have another look at it? Such an embaressing noise.

Correct.
Also correct.Alternatively you can take the pads out and machine a chamfer into the friction material
Correct, but won't have any bearing on performance. "Amontons' 2nd Law: The force of friction is independent of the apparent area of contact."but you'll lose a tiny bit of contact area.

Correct. However surface area is directly proportional to force/pressure your pads can apply to your rotors and hence the amount of energy you can dissipate through the system. Coefficient of friction is not proportional to area, but is multiplied with factors which are. I agree though; losing 10mm of pad surface area will do sweet FA to reduce your braking performance. They are good pads.
Cheers Greg
Got my order today, thanks Greg
mine used to squeal too. I have the HPX pads. After following a bedding in procedure ( which some say is a myth ) they still squealed. I went for some quick bursts and hit the brake heavily. repeated this 5 - 6 times and no more squeal. it was only 1 side at a time too. Been perfect ever since. Saved my bacon once too. Not a bad pad at all.
I took it back to the installer yesterday and I think all they did was spray WD-40 or something on it (I might be wrong there)... But was fine for the first 40 minutes but the squeeking has come back albeit less then what it was.. I am sure it will wear in over time.
I think I caused it because I left the installer's place on Monday and thought I would test them out a bit to make sure they were put in properly before venturing down the highway and find out they failed... But apparently I was told by a friend that you shouldn't do that to new brakes... Oh well, live and learn, hehe.
Wonder how the HPX pads compare to the Hawk pads that MPS Garage sell ?
Has anyone compared them?
I ordered a set of SuperX (as per Greg's recommendations) and swiftly paid for them on Wednesday 7/3 delivered to Newstead, Brisbane.
It's now 4.00m on Friday 9/3 and still no pads delivered. 3 days delivery within Brisbane!!!!
Called and spoke to Matt in regards to their whereabouts and now I found out that GSL haven't received them yet despite being told they had them in stock.
Was hoping to install this weekend, but, now it seems I wont receive till Monday.
Doesn't help really as the next available time for me to install is the following weekend.
After that, I asked to get an over the phone quote for new rotors while I had them on the line.
To which I was told "Im under the pump with people standing infront of me, can you call back"
Not really the result I was hoping for with my first purchase from GSL Rallysport. : (

Sad to hear. GSL have been nothing short of awesome in my last 4 dealings with them.

Hi Murray,
Apologies for the inconvenience in your first dealing, it certainly isn't the ways things should be.
Few points:
- Super X we definitely do not carry in stock. If either myself or Matt told you so, I apologize, we've unbelievably understaffed at the moment, so we have had to rush things lately (new person is staring in a few weeks!!). HPX and above we carry in stock (and HEAPS of) but QFM's ordinary street pads as you requested we have to order in. Which didn't arrive here till today. Why it took QFM that's long I'm not sure...
- Matt actually said he'll call you back, and then forgot. Neither myself or Matt will ever ask a customer to call back, we'll always ask to return the call, and Matt had your details on his notepad... but then subsequently got distracted
Both of these points were made worse because I was actually away Friday as I had a Friday night meeting in Sydney with one of our shareholders, so Matt was left here on his own to try and manage a store of this size on his own... That's phones/emails/dispatch/paperwork. On a normal day that's a 3 person job, let alone a busy day like he had Friday.
Again, nothing I say will make up for the disappointment of not receiving the parts when expected. I didn't realise any of this when I spoke to you on the phone before (or when I replied to your PM 20 mins ago). Given the circumstances, ignore those DBA prices I gave you, we'll work out something quite special on that front if you're interested.
As always, any problems or dramas just let me know!
Regards,
Greg

Now that is how you try to help a customer out.......Maybe others should take note!!!!!!
Thanks Greg
Some things are beyond your control and great to see you care about the customer service end of things.
Many thanks again for your honesty.

Great stuff Greg
Just to clarify further, the delay which I have since discovered was that QFM hold our orders until boxes of 9 pad are ready to send as we're on a free freight deal into store with them. They can send a single ordered set of pads separately, but the freight charge would just about make the pads below cost unless we passed this cost on. I wasn't aware this order was desperate for the weekend, so we probably didn't pursue it further. For that I apologize.

I had the HPX pads front & back initially, based on most of the experiences here on this site. I changed them all within 2 weeks to A HAWK pad. Never looked back since. Maybe expected too much, maybe not???
Did you fit them to new or machined rotors, or rotors which had previous had another pad on them?
And further to that, how many k's did you do in 2 weeks??
The rotors where new (DBA slotted 4000's) & i bedded the pads in. I probably did over 600km, including a trip to Sydney. The squealing on the pads was incessant
and In my opinion i found the metal tabs on the back of the pads to be very flimsy, compared to the Hakws they were chalk n cheese. Had no such problem with the
Hawks & have done well over 10,000k n still going strong. I was offered the Remsa as a replacement, provided I post a report. too busy at the time, but no
regrets.......Cheers
ive just put RDA slotted rotors and RDA extreem pads in the front of my mrs 08 3mps.
not really impresed with thme. they dont seem to have the same bite the factry ones did... do they need extended bed in time or something sily? i've bled them and done 500kms but they just aren't living up to my expectations.
should i put some RED STUFF pads in there instead? and some fresh dot5.. car has just done 60000kms
