    Default Accellera PH-1 review

I've decided to give these a run. They're a budget tyre - $195 ea fitted for 225/45R18. 225/40 and 235/40 are avilable I believe. First impressions are positive. They're a soft compound, so wear is not expected to be brilliant, but grip is quite good. The most surprising thing is that they are VERY quiet. Quietest tyre I've heard on any mazda 3. By a HUGE margin.

At first guess I would suggest they sit around Maxxis MA-V1 and Sumitomo HTRZ-II in terms of quality and performance. They're an asymmetric tread, which should help minimize torque steer - On first impression I've noticed less than KU-36.

While negative feedback seems reduced (torque steer etc), there seems to be a touch less positive feedback, too. Feel less connected to the road than the KU-36 I had previously. Currently have them at 40PSI, which is higher than I usually use, and might account for some of the steering feel and a slight bounciness to the rear (something I've notived at 40PSI with most tyres), so now to take them down to a more familiar 38F/36R. Apart from that, grip is good, haven't thrashed in the wet, but no complaints, no terrible behaviour, not tramlining etc. SO QUIET - It's nice to listen to more of the engine and less of the road.

I'm pretty sure I priced these a few months ago while considering the Sumitomo's I have now. Are they sold by Goodyear? I got a slightly better price. But I guess I got spooked by the value. Is something that cheap going to out brake in the wet a more premium brand?

I'm not having a go mate. I'm quite glad someone is trying them. I look forward to updates over time. Considering I paid $1000 fitted for the Sumi's I guess I could have bought an SRI with the savings the Acellera's would have got me. Good luck with them.

$190 is what I was quoted but they billed me slightly less for the tyres. $875 fitting including $55 touch up of some light gravel rash on a rim, that also includes disposal charges for 3 x KU-36. $180-190 is likely pricing.
A few tyre tests I've seen placed the accellera's in the mid-range amongst competitors. I'll take it for a strap tomorrow with my usual tyre pressures and see how they go. In they wet I've no complaints; handle my wet grassy yard better than KU-36....

Verdict : Great bang for buck, considering the $175-185 fitted pricing.
40+ PSI was definately too high, and I'm liking the 38/36 pressure.
At 40+ they have some tendency to squirm and tramline, and steering felt a bit lighter and less connected.

Pulled it down to 38/36 and very happy. feedback is good, grip is good. steering weight is good.

As far as bang for buck goes, I would say better bang for buck than Sumitomo HTRZ-III due to pricing. ($180 vs $240)
Pricing aside, are they on par with Sumitomo? I'd say....not far off.

For wear, I expect they will wear at a similar rate to KU-36, but last longer because the center rib area of the KU-36 gets below legal depth long before the shoulders. These look like they will wear more evenly; I am hoping to see 35,000, but don't expect 40,000 - depends. Realistically KU-36 maxed out @ 28,000 - pushing to 33,000 was really stretching the KU-36. I expect these will get that far and still have breathing room, so to speak.

$175-180 was the per tyre costing I paid w/ fitting. Just remembered there was an $88 alignment included in the $875
