Default How do I paint my brake calipers?

Here's a detailed guide i found by doing a quick Google search..

    Tips on brake caliper painting.

I remember there being some detailed threads on OMC and M3F but a quick search came up empty handed....

Not really a good guide, and definately not detailed.. Kblume, shame on you!

I highly recommend you buy some G2 paint in pink colour off ebay (or direct from G2 in the USA) then buy some brake cleaner from Super Cheap (as the G2 kit doesnt have the aerosol in it as its posted from the USA) and then follow the instructions on the box.

It took me about 5 hrs total, 3 coats on each caliper.

I highly recommend you use a 1.2 tonne jack to lift up the rear wheels, and do both at the same time, then you can do the fronts individually (saves time as the paint hardens within 4-6 hrs)

If you need help, just ask

if u want the colour to stand out make sure u put a coat of white on first helps to bring colour out and use high temp paint

Forget white, it will only decrease the adhesion. USE G2 PAINT from the USA! Trust me, its the best thing since sliced bread. Its also applied by brush, and sets smooth as glass....

Easiest way to get colour to your calipers

Pics after the install would be great, im a bit skeptical as to how well they would actually fit over the calipers........

Might have to try a how to this weekend, with the centre console repeat, pending no rain.

Ward - for the G2 Kit, did you get the mustang special edition kit or the standard kit?

Do you have any pics on how your calipers turned out?

    Cheers.

Standard G2 is perfect. With not much effort, the calipers turned out so sweet. Looks like a professional jobie mate. The G2 is a bl00dy good product, and comes with all the painting tools (brush, stirrer, paint + hardener).

I dont have any close up pics, will take a few tonight with the wheel on (too lazy to take it off)

sweet, will wait for pics...don't mind if the wheel is on either - it'll give me a good idea on how it will turn out.

Hey all, i recently got my calipers done, they turned out really good. Pretty decent mod to add some more sportiness to it. Definately need the decals for this mod to look right.

I have more pics in my car section if you want to have a look

    Cheers,

    Lou

So...uh....excuse my retardedness, but do you need to remove the calipers to paint them?

You can remove them but it is not a requirement...you can just mask off the parts you don't want painted.

Mmm, keen to do mine but i dont want to have to stuff around with removing them. Might get the gear to do it then make the decision.
