You are both rating a Euro Built car by the crap that gets turned out here in Australia....... Not wise.

Worked on plenty of euro fords aswell..
I actually think they are worse. Mondeos. Don't get me started on them. My most hated cars
parts make the car but they dont build the car! i can give u an engine mount u use a half inch bar, i will use a half inch torque wrench i bet mine ends up better.. i have seen people build engines and they lasted 2 mins...iv seen engines built and they have lasted years ( i ahve built engines/cars put the time in ensure quilaty of build and it will last) .. my point is its not the parts u use its how its goes together, ensure its done right..
Many want Power not many hold it long.........
O Dan I know that, my brother drives them my dad drives them I've owned them mainly Fairlanes and LTD's, I don't realy care to be quite honest I'm Holden through and through. I've driven Ferrari's and porsches and bmw and audi's and sti's and merc's. I normally support Australian made cars that i like ,SLR's Brocks and HSV's. I have my opinion and I don't give a rats who drives what car they are initialled to their opinion I don't rubbish anybody who drives anything different, I just don't like ford brand in general not all models ok otherwise lets all buy fords..... So to close who gives a F**K whats in the Mazda MPS Nothing against you just can handle the crap.....
Does it look hot as hell?? Yes.
If it was the same price as my MPS would I have bought the RS?? No
This is not a new situation, for me it reaches back to the days of the Mazda 323 / Ford laser. They shared the same engine chassis and running gear, the Ford looked more stylish from the outside. But always opted for the Mazda. They always felt better finished and more refined
and had better interiors...
Happy Motoring
duglet
i want one
No idea what you're going on about with the engine mount analogy...
Oh yeah, while I'm on. Half the Focus RS is Volvo bits...as are the MPS brakes. The MPS is just as much Ford as the Focus is, the Focus is 50/50 Ford/Volvo, the Volvo T30 is 33/33/33 Ford/Mazda/Volvo....
Agreed Al but are you really going to part with $60k just 4 the looks

The GF actually offered me 8k if I get an RX8 ...
.....she doesnt like the RS
Ford's partial ownerhip of many other marques in most cases provided the buying power for parts in greater volumes which kept the prices down and saved companies like Volvo, Jaguar and Mazda from going under. But we all know what happened with Mazda under Ford, they produced totally forgetful shit like the Mazda 121 kiddy-car. Fortunately, they've just axed the silly Jaguar X-type, which is on a Mondeo chassis - one of the stupidest wanker cars of all time. And fortunately too, Ford said to Mazda, "you actually do it better than us" we'll leave you to your own devices, and we started to get decent stuff like the RX8 and the MPS's.
I worked in a pre-sales check shop for a while and the panel fit on Fords was abysmal. Park behind one at a set of lights and note how the boot edges don't line up parallel with the edges of the aperture it's suposed to fit, and how big the panel gaps are everywhere. And the local turbo shop just loves the fail frequency on the turbo versions. I hired one in NSW for a bush trip a while ago and found the panel just bloody awful to look at and interpret, with weird blue lights against silver trim and the oddest graduations on the guages. And the seats might look good but lack any long-lasting support. Sit in an MPS6 and see some decent instrumentation in contrast.
Shelling out $50-60K for a nasty little Ford shit-box, hot or not, would be the height of either profligate waste, poor ability to choose sensibly, or insanity.

Wow I don't hate fords that much Doug I have a dig, but i do understand what you mean about fitment and interiors I have owned 4 fairlanes and 2 LTD's and my family all drive fords and there finish even in the Fairlanes/LTD's weren't up to it but they do make some nice cars, even my 22 yo daughter bought the Ford Festiva recently and rang me to let me know she let me down come to what she wanted and price. Good write though Doug
Best lookin hot hatch to come out of Europe IMHO...
Will it be worth 65 Grand in 5 years...Na..
I reckon with only 318 ever tapping our shores, good chance they will go down in history with the great Escort RS..
They will double in value in 5 yrs..God know what they will be worth in 10??
Like champs said...You can't possibly compare an Ozzie built Ford to one that comes out of Sar Louis factory....
And as for the shitbox comment......Thats what you''ll be saying when one passes ya....
as in "What was that green shitbox?"
HaHaHa.............
Any chances to test drive one Barney?
