    It's interesting the CX-7 outsold the 6 (747 to 485). Show's how the market's moving to SUV's. The smaller hatch's still reign supreme!

    Mazda needs to tap into the Baton Relay and promote the MPS, 30 Sales we can do better than that for Australia, it needs it's own commericial....

    If MAzda is reading this I'd say the sales that are up on the board are from OzMpsClub members spreading the word....... You have a perfect car promote it........

    Funny, I'd have honestly thought they'd have sold more MX-5s than MPSs YTD

    I know the MX-5 isn't a cheap car per se, but I think it's still top o' the heap in terms of roadsters..... maybe it's part of the trending toward SUVs as mentioned above......

    the CX7's are flying out the door, how popular are they its great to see. Do you have a breakdown between the different variants in the CX7 ?

    Yes Mazda promote the MPS more. Mazda make such good cars across their range we realised just how much so when looking for a replacement for the MX5 the interior quality of the Mazda is way above many other rivals, we brought an RX8

    I'd like to see the 3 Sales broken down into 3/SP25/Diesel/MPS figures.

    Interesting to compare historic sales data:

    Do you have data for:

    January 2007 -> August 2007 for YTD sales of MPS3 (Gen 1)

    Compared to:
    January 2010 -> August 2010 for YTD sales of MPS3 (Gen 2) - 446

    no offence intended, but unfortunately a meaningless comparison unless you offset it against a baseline. For example, do you have total mazda sales for both periods?

    I must say I'm shocked that the gen 1 outsold the gen 2 by so many I was one of the gen 1 buyers May 2007 , one question where are they hiding ????? Rino 's coments above are worth noting Mr Mazda Guru , The OZMPSClub Aust wide baton relay is an exellent marketing oportunity for the mps ,plus we are having a MPS display at the Bathurst 12 hr approx 20 cars . Both these events should also be covered by your exellent ZOOM ZOOM Magazine , like they did the MX5 Nat meet McLaren Vale Sth Aust . A trip to beautiful tropical Cairns to represent Mazda Australia at the start of the Baton Relay ,now there's a good Idea , should help sell 30 more MPS'S as well .

    They did....but the Gen2 has had billboard displays and advertising on net etc..

    The devil tail didnt start to well after the MPS was out.....

    The 6MPS got no promoting at all....which is why i think it didnt do well.

    Mazda are doing a good job but....the product does need to be promoted more...and I think they need to think about more cars in the MPS range.

    They are quite different cars too,

    The Gen 1 was merely a fast 3, the follow on effect into the Gen 1 from regular 3 Buyers was more natural because it was the same car with a turbocharger.

    Now, if you ask for a 3, the dealer will tell you about the SP25 if you want a sportier version, they almost wont even think to tell you about the MPS because it is treated as a completely different model.

    where on VFACTS can you actually get summary stats for Mazda by time period of interest? or, do you have to email them as it isn't available directly?

    Well Mazda Australia have a lot of training to do, I have been in retail for 29years and trained people most of that time. I always started with the highest item in that category and worked my way down and explained the difference and when you went through finance options most would prefer to get the better product for little difference in weekly repayments. I found that a lot of people walked in to buy what the saw on TV and most of the sales team would just sell it to make a sale and the ones that were shown the difference from the advertised item would sooner have the better product with the features and that for me was about 70% of my sales. Lot of companys advertise the cheaper product to bring the clients in,but it's the salesperson to explain the differences between the product range without being pushy,explain the benifits between them all and maybe the little difference between each model when it comes to repayments per week could make the difference to buying the MPS
