Thread: Gday all

  1. Default Gday all

Just thought i would make myself known

My names Adrian and am currently looking into to purchasing a mazda 6 mps as a family car. Was considering a 3 but the 6 was more suited to my needs.

Ive owned mazda's all my life but of the rotary variety so this will be my first piston motor so to speak. Not a bad welcoming if I don't say so my self. I hope to preform the simple mods like a decent exhaust that isn't to drowning and maybe lower it an inch but thats what id like to do when it happens is any ones guess and theres always getting it past the other half.

well thats my story for now

    happy posting

    Adrian

Hello and Adrian to the forum!

Glad to hear your considering the 6MPS, they're great cars, in terms of looks, performance and bang for your buck! Plenty of us on here have 6's and as BB mentioned above don't hesitate to ask any questions. Oh, and any pics of your current/previous ride are most welcome mate, post them up!

If you wish to chase some simple mods, may I suggest one of our sponsors www.mpsgarage.com.au it is there where you will find a one-shop parts and accessories for the proposed 6 you're after. Have a browse if you got some time on your hands.

For some info (and your welcome to check out my RR link - see below) I have a Turbo back exhaust fitted. It consists of a CP-E downpipe, flanged to a 3" mandrel bend catback, complete with 2x resonators and a 'y' piece split into two stainless steel super-cat mufflers. I'd like to think the result is pretty good in terms of perfomance gain and general exhaust note. Not droney at all due to the 2 resonators fitted. I have pics on my RR thread of the install if that helps.

As far as lowering your ride, you pretty much have two options, springs or coilovers. Springs being the cheaper option. Myself, I have King Springs (low) fitted, I like the ride height and she's not low enough to give me daily drama's. Chris (Shakespeare) above had a coilover set-up in his car before returning it to stock. He loved the flat cornering and general handling but did admit on some roads at times it was a little uncomfortable. It really comes down to what you want and your budget.

For now mate, happy car shopping

    Welcome Adrian.

All, there's got to be a sticky thread for this too. We get lots of folks saying they're buying, thinking of buying or have just bought an MPS6 and wanting to know about weaknesses or future mods to do. When I first joined on the other MazdaClub forum I admit I posed a posed a similar question, but I had extensively browsed all the threads beforehand and found a lot of stuff but it was fragmented. The same questions have been answered here many times now, and a single forum would make a decent reference and save lots of repeat writing on DP's, catbacks, BOVs, ECU piggybacks, coilovers, boost guage mounts, rims, tyres, etc. Maybe too much to handle under one thread but maybe separate threads under those headings might work. Any thoughts??

    Cheers for the replies,

have had a look around the forum already and have seen the sticky threads referring to exhaust/intakes, car weaknesses etc and of course the for sale section. From what ive heard prior to the forum you cant go wrong with the 6 or the 3, a friend worked as a mazda service tech in both the uk and here for about 10yrs and has since opened his own business specialising in mazda's and has nothing but praise for them so ive got his vote.

    and as requested

    74 RX4 coupe - was sadly T boned
73 RX4 4 door - stock as a rock sold to a friend who moved to NT
82 RX7 still currently own - 13B large extend port 51mm webber, full twin 2" exhaust to 2 1/2 over the diff (loud !!!! 120rwkws ) PWR radiator and oil cooler, S5 rx7 brakes, all suspension replaced new shocks, springs ( 1 1/2 " lower) nolathane bushes, white line strut and adjustable sway bar, immaculate interior love the car and it flys .

sadly it'll soon be sold due to lack of space and we need something a bit more practical but ill get another one in the future once you've been bitten buy the rotary bug its hard to get rid of it

Hi Adrian welcome!!! I have always owned Mazda's of the piston type lol Mazda mx6 turbo, 626 Turbo's etc

2 years ago I was looking for a newer car and I chose a MPS6 as I will be looking to have a family soon.

I have just put a cat-back on yesterday and I'm about to lower the MPS next week and chuck in some slotted rotors too

If your thinking of getting one and not sure come along to the cruise we are having here in Adelaide on the 28th of this month http://www.ozmpsclub.com/forum/club-...ruise-tba.html

Welcome to the SA Team! Yes for a family car I would think the 6 would be better suited especially if you are tall! (No-one can sit behind me in my 3 unless they are an amputee unfortnatly! We have a cruise next Saturday if you would like to come along and meet some of us even if you haven't got your 6 yet! (See Cruises Thread)

    thanks everyone,

on an even better note i picked up my new mazda6 tonight , I am over the moon and love everything about the car. some of you may recognise the car from here. The condition is flawless for the age and a special note must be made to the previous owner who has looked after the car so well. couldnt ask for anything more.

just have to wait for the weather to clear up so i can give it a wash and full detail.

If all things go well i shall be at the cruise but may have to leave early as i have soccer
