Thread: Oil leak!!!

  1. #1

    Default Oil leak!!!

Yep, my car has an oil leak. what a joke. noticed it last night. took it to my mechanic this arvo.
He put it on the hoist. Its coming from the front of the engine. Around the timing cover. Near the crank angle sensor.
They did a quick check and yes all the bolts are tight.
Back to Mazda first thing Monday.
Little worried about having the DP fitted though. But they can get stuffed.
At 6000kms its not even due for its first service.
I should clarify thats its NOT pissing out oil. it s not even on the ground. I was having a look at something underneath when i noticed it was on the crossmember. then i noticed some drops forming on the sump.......

yeah not good for a new car feel for ya. the Dp will not cuz oil leaks.. when u change/mod something only the parts that are affected are void on the warranty. i clarified this with mazda when i bought my neo.

Oh Sh...T , you just seem lucky Cton. At least u found it quick ,by the sounds of it. I had three water pumps replaced on first gen MPS ,a real small leak only vis from underneath .

Yeah im not having much luck with my first NEW car......Thats for sure...
when i first saw it i thought surely thats just water from the rain. Until i wiped my hand along the crossmember.
Hopefully its an easy fix. My mechanic mentioned it could even mean the engine needs to come out to fix. SH*T! Lets hope not.

Oil leak fixed.... Well thats what they said anyway.
Coming from the sump. So they removed it and resealed it.
    Free oil change! ha.
They didnt mention anything about the DP.
I wouldnt be suprised if they didnt even notice. I like it in black!
I would have been more worried taking it in with the intake and inlet still on.
Getting it back on a friends hoist in a week or so to double check its all good.....
they said lucky it wasnt the timing cover. Engine out then.

    Hmm.....
Just jacked my car up to see how it was holding up.
Still seeping some oil! from the same spot. Bloody dealerships. I thought it was odd they said it was the sump.
Its coming from a little higher than that.
I just thought id check it was all good before i put my SRI/TIP back on. Didnt want to go to the dealer with that on if not needed.
They also didnt even degrease the crossmember from the first time around.
Oh well, another dealer visit monday.
Definately not getting the enjoyment from the MPS at the moment.

Had the car serviced 2 weeks ago and i asked the bloke who sold me the car in regards to warranty and mods... He confirmed with Mazda Aust on this and i spoke to him face to face the next day and basically he said things like the exhaust system - DP, cat back etc etc WILL NOT void warranty, u are also allowed to have intake, bov etc etc... U can change the wheels, suspension components (coilovers) + brake pads etc etc for better ones but not the whole brake system.

Things that WILL void ur warranty will be any modifications to the ecu component... These includes chips, piggyback etc etc... and u cannot boost the engine as that will also void warranty..and apparently they can check all this IF u blow the engine and take it back to claim

So cton, i think ur on the safe side mate good to hear u got it sorted!

Dropped it back to my dealer to give them a second go at fixing the oil leak.
It was the timing cover like i told them the first time.
Although they still didnt degrease the crossmember properly even though i mentioned for them to do it.
pretty sure they had to drop the engine too this time. All the settings in the radio were reset....
Lets keep fingers crossed this time.
