Default 2009 Mazda 3 MPS (Gen 2) - Black Luxury

Some of you might have read, I need to sell my car because my knee is completely shot. I couldn't even drive myself to work this morning as it is my left knee so I don't have the power in it to change gears.

So I am going to sell my car, so here it is, thought I would offer it on here before I put it up anywhere else.

Mazda 3, MPS, Gen 2 - Black Luxury
Tint, all the paint, fabric & rust protections.
5,500 kms only. She is spotless.
    Asking $36,999

Sad to hear you're selling and more so your knee giving you issues. What did you do if you don't mind me asking?
I came off (wrote off) a motorbike last July I couldn't walk for two days and after that limping for about a couple of weeks.
Probably should have broken my knee due to forced impact, but I put it down to all the ice-cream and calcium I eat!! Now all seems good, I hope its the same improving case for yourself.
Btw, did you end up making a decision on a new car yet? Test drive any?
Good luck with the sale of the MPS!

It is basically an ongoing injury I have had from playing too much basketball - I was never that good and should have given up years ago, but love playing. I have been playing with it quite bad for about a year now and now it is just too much. On Monday I will find our just how bad it is, but really either I will be having surgery now or I will be having surgery in a year or two as the injury will only get worse. Patella Tendonitis - or Jumpers Knee. We believe I have done quite a lot of damage to the tendones that attach to the patella.
I have not made a decision on a new car as yet, not test driven any either. My wife is keen on me getting a larger car, as I am 6"2, so that I can get in and out easily and also so that we can use both cars for family stuff (currently we only use my wifes car) - she even went and found out the Holden Caprice V6 is currently about $51k on road.
But there are heaps of cars to chose from, Gold GTI, Holden Caprice, Mazda 6, Maxda CX-7 and others as well.

I work upstairs to a foot surgeon/specialist who was kind enough to look at my knee having learnt a fair bit about the knee during his studies. He informed me that aside from the head, the knee is the most complex part in the body, as the architecture in the knee itself and all the components are structured and complex. I got lucky with my injury but I was worried when I couldn't walk the next day. Not sure about surgery or not, but from what it sounds like, I'm guessing they'll have to go inside and see what's going on and fix it. X-rays might be on order, I had a few on mine and they found fragments, but that could have been rocks or glass (unlikely to be bone)

I'm 6' or 6'1" and I have the seat right back. If height is a problem maybe consider a large Japanese car or alternatively go away from a Japanese cars all together as they tend to be a little small. If you're willing to go second hand there's plenty of European cars such as 6cyl or 8cyl with plenty of performance but I understand if you desire a new car. Ford, Holden are large cars as well as maybe the Aurion? TRD Aurion?

I'll tell you this though, driving my 6 after my accident, its by no means a "big" car when you get in it. I couldn't bend my knee enough to get it in the door without wanting to punch the window in pain! Go bigger if its an issue with your knee mate, but you'll know if and when you test drive a 6

I did plan to go and test drive the 6 Luxury - I had a loan car once which was a standard 6, it was quite unimpressive I thought at the time.
Never been a fan of the new Aurion to be honest.

I am having an MRI tomorrow, as we need to see what is happening with the bones and muscle/tendones/etc, apparently this is the best to see everything. He is fairly sure from what I describe that I will need surgery fairly soon. The fact me knee collapsed this morning the way it did makes me wonder if there might be something a bit more sinister going on. Hopefully not.

Having restricted movement in the knee, especially after surgery makes me think a big car is in order or at least a pretend 4x4.

Andy sorry to hear about the knee, i have patella tendonitis too, though from gym, and since im still young it's still in it's early stages thus isn't to bad. Though may i reccomend you my Chiropractor which is located on Reynolds Rd.

He's fairly cheap and has fixed my knee, though from what i've read at your stage there isn't much that can be done through my Chiro though I'm sure he can help in someway.
A mate of mine is actually going into surgery sometime soon for the same reason.

Thanks Matto - I have a personal dislike for Chiropractors - I would prefer to use a manipulative physiotherapist - they do they same thing except they have a better understanding from better training - just my opinion.
But whilst I do have patella tendonitis it actually is not that bad - I actually have a really large tear in my tendon - about as big as they get apparently. So going to have a new treatment of where they inject my blood into the tendon to make it heal and heal quickly. It might actually mean I get to keep my car at this stage, which is good news!

Hi all, just a quick update, this car is going to be traded-in in the next week, so any offers between $33k and $34k will get you an excellent and cheap car! Must be able to settle on the car quickly!

Thanks guys, appreciate it! Knee is heeling and the treatment is working, but surgeon says no more manual cars, especially since most of my driving is done in peak hour traffic.
All going well with the girls too, thanks BB. Our new addition is already sleeping through the night has been for almost a month!

Paddle shift?! Or if you're dodgy like a mate, don't use a clutch! lol. Glad to hear things are going well with the treatment. Maybe you can come back to manual driving in the future.

No they pretty much told me I wouldn't be able to drive a manual again on a day to day basis, but should be able to drive one occassionally, so when I win Lotto I will buy a manual to sit in my big garage and never be driven
