Thread: Dyno tuning for mps now in melbourne!!!

  1. Default

Chatted to them today and was told they can't flash Gen 2's yet.

Any other Melbourne companies tuning stock ECU'a for gen 2?

I'm pretty sure they were the only ones able to flash tune ECU's in Melbourne period.... so you are probably out of luck at least temporarily.

Just questioning the numbers produced here.. it would seem all hpf have really done is undo the bad things mazda did to the car during a service.. does anyone else remember reading the autospeed/chiptorque write up where the standard car produced 160kw atw and then had the xede fitted to get over 180???? why has this flash only produced 166? hardly seems worth the cash to me

It's nothing bad on their part. I seriously doubt they produced 160kw@tw. In all the posts I've read, no one has produced these figures stock. Hopeing Matt@hpf can weigh in on this...

Hey guys, earlier in the year at the AllStar Tuning Dyno Day we had 2 stock GenII's tested. 151 (me) & 154 (LeeLu) kwtw repectively. Sounds about right if you add the 20-25% transmission loss.

Thinking about it now, Matt told me something about his dynos reading less than other dynos. Might see if he can explain this. Whatever the readings, I can gurantee you all there's no way a stock mps3 would feel like this one does.
Wonder what my readings would be if I were to check on the same dynos that the other guys were tested on... Hmmm.
Again, see if I can get Matt to explain...

Its fairly irrelevant. Different dynos, different conditions etc.
All you need to know is before and after, unless you have different cars done on the same dyno on the same day.. then maybe you could 'compare'

A dyno is only a yard stick.. if you want a true indication take it down the quarter!

I will as soon as I have the money and time, Jmac.
As said before, despite whatever the numbers suggest, this thing is simply a weapon now... MONEY WELL WORTH SPENT.

I'm glad your happy just for the record though some of us were around in 2006 when these cars were absolutely mental then Mazda did a recall and took the fun away. If it feels as good as mine did then your onto a winner.

Sure have. Took TCS off for an experiment. Wheelspun in 2nd gear from 3,000RPM all the way to red line doing 90kmh, and it only stopped because I had to change gear (and stop for the lights). This thing is an animal...
