I went with the dry flow filter.

Can't really comment whether the K & N would be any better though...

Why don't you just clean it.
CP-e use aFe filters which are equal to K&N, in some apps better.
We have cleaning kits for them on the site, here's a link other wise look in the service section of the site for your vehicle.

is there any other way to clean the standard filter which comes with the cpe cai other than using the cleaning kit?
will soap and water do? since its a dry filter and does not need the use of oil?

There needs to be an update on that product page on our site.
There are two cleaning kits, one for the dry Flow & the other for the oiled filter.
    Both are in stock now.

This is a couple of years late but may still be of help for anyone looking.

i'm in the process of ordering an Amsoil filter for my COBB SRI. Amsoil don't ship direct to Aus so have to go through their oz distributor engine care Australasia. Julian, who I spoke to today said they can order one direct but it's approx $80 shipping for the $50 filter. If I want to wait for their next stock order, I can get it for the price of the filter, plus shipping price from their aus office to my place.

They were very helpful, I'll be getting mine when their next stock order arrives.
