Thread: How long did your original Bridgestone RE050s last?

Default How long did your original Bridgestone RE050s last?

Thought this would make for an interesting thread, as some people seem to love the OEM tyres, while others arent too fussed. Personally i thought they offered great grip and were very predictable, compared to the Yokos I'm running at the moment.

I got 18,000km out of mine and they were cactus. My old man got 24,000 and he's a conservative driver....most of the time. I know they are a soft compound tyre (140 rating from memory) but we were both kinda disappointed in the milage we got out of them, considering they cost $400+ a corner to replace. I know some people have had terrible times with uneven tyre wear/alignment issues as well. And has anybody replaced the originals with the same tyres?

28,000 for me. I thought that was a good result for the potenzas. I wasn't that gentle on them either; they were all gone by then.

If I hadn't been conserving $, I would have replaced them at 23,000.

I'm up to 21000km on mine and reckon I'll probably get to 25000km (after bagging out Nexus for doing 28000km )

I got about 17,000 out of mine and have replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport on rear (they were cheap 2nd hand 90% tread for about $150 each) and Marangoni Mythos on the front.

I got about 30k - but should have changed at 25k - nearly died when I got a quote which was definately the "your a dumb female price" - now have the cheapest of cheap....but they make driving all that much more fun!! I've trashed my resale anyway.....just about to hit 50,000kms is under two years!

Got 32,000km from mine (but they're now cactus), 25% country/highway driving, 75% metro and only 1 track day (kinda) which was the Mazda Advanced driver training. Should have probably changed them at 30,000 but couldn't decide on new rims/tyres. I drive kinda medium to hard, like to attack corners and power out hard. Have Goodyear F1's at the mo and have only worn about 20% in 8,000kms

I think i get some much mileage from my tyres becoz I rotate them every 5000kms without fail.

    Just a thought guys..

18000 out of the bridgies, 12000 so far out of the Falken RT615s, probably get another 2000 out of them.

So far I'm at 28,000klms on the originals. Looking at the wear now I'd say I'll get better than 40,000klms. That's with about 85% city driving. And I have them rotated at each service.

24000 mainly round town from the OEMS

Running Falken 912s ($260 each corner) done 6000 so far and looking ok. Hoping for 25,000. Religous rotate and balance every 5000 and using nitrogen.

Swallowtail - you IT guys mys be paid well to turnover tyres every 16000ks!

    Jim
