Thread: Gen 2 floor mats

  1. #1

    Question Gen 2 floor mats

I have a gen2 with genuine Mazda mps mats that have the two holes in them for plugs that are normally in the floor so they can clip in but the gen 2 doesn't seem to have these plugs,

everyday I have to fix the floor mat on the drivers side and I'm starting to miss that feature on my old car.

Does any Gen2 have the plugs on the drivers floor? I'm a little Confuesed as I don't know why they would make the mats with the holes if the car doesn't have them.

Its because you have to drill the plugs in yourself, which is plain stupid, there should be an instruction book with the mats... If you bought them post-MPS purchase

I think i understand. I ordered the mats with mine, and it has the lugs. but if you didnt order the mats from purchasing the car new. maybe it doesnt have the lugs and they need to be fitted? Maybe the idiots at mazda didnt put the lugs in yours...
Who would ever buy $40 000 car without mats? It shouldnt even be an extra.

Correct, they need to be fitted. They are just 2 little plastic clips.

mmm interesting they were fitted by the dealer at the 1000kms service as they didnt have them on hand when it was purchased. I might have to go vistit the dealer.

They're not a standard fitting because it's an easy $300 for the dealer on top of the value of the car (or something they can give you for "free" to entice you in to buying the car), that's been pretty standard procedure since Fred Flintstone bought his first car made of stone with optional animal skin floor mats.

It is an easy upsell to a target in that position I do agree.
