EDIT: As my Sumitomo's are on thier way out, I'm in the market. I've added prices below from Tirerack.com and my tyre size of choice, 235/40ZR18.

Of interest to some maybe, a 2012 UK (subjective) review on 10 Max Performance Tyres.

2012 EVO Max Performance Tyre Test | the online tyre guide

    2nd: Hankook Ventus S1 evo (US$175 235/40ZR18)
    3rd: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 (US$186 235/40R18 - They dont seem to supply ZR18...)

5th: Pirelli P Zero (Not the Rosso or Nero. US$272 235/40ZR18 Non Mercedes version ? )
6th: Bridgestone Potenza S001 (They dont seem to supply ZR18...)

If I could get CONTINENTAL SPORT CONTACT 3 or PIRELLI PZERO ROSSO for the same price around $1k, what you reckon?

Just get the Michelien Super Sports from Tirerack if your after street tyres, Continental already have a better tyre out then the Sport Contact 3 its called the 5P, new RS250 comes with them.

But the Super Sports are rated a better tyre then them.

Just be weiry about buying overseas went looking to buy tyres for the 4wd and save $171 on each tyre to look into it further and found out if I had a crash and the tyres were the result of the crash you become liable because you are the importer of the tyres on your car. Just putting it out there if it helps cheers Rino....

After my brothers experience of having 3 inside walls of his tyres let go and dealing with the importer log those tyres I wouldn't be too concerned. You don't get any support from the local importers either

honestly, the only tyre retailer who's worth a damn imo is hankook:
    Hankook Tyre Australia
if they give with <25% of tread depth used, and in first year, they replace it for free (assuming proper inflation/wheel allignment etc)

    Brand: Hankook
    Model: RS-3
    Price (fitted/unfitted): $178 US ea + shipping
    Bought from: Tirerack USA
    Size: 225/40-18
    Value /10: 9.5
    Performance /10: 9
Likes: Dry grip is simply astonishing, would take a brave person to get these to their limits of grip. Low noise for an extreme summer tyre and surprisingly comfortable to drive on as a daily.
Dislikes: Sucks up every little thing on the road and sprays it all over the car. Not at its best in heavy rain or standing pools of water. Takes a while to get heat into the tyre.
    Wear: Expected 15-20k kms

    Default Nitto Invo review

So it was time for new tyres. Wanted good performance without having to pay $400-$600 a corner. (Don't we all) So did some investigating and found some tyres from a brand called Nitto. They are made by Toyo. I know it is about handling and performance, but a good looking tyre is a good thing too and the tread pattern on these is incredible! All the reviews from the USA are raving about these so thought I would give it a go. Here is the review and some pics...

    Brand: Nitto
    Model: Invo
    Price (fitted/unfitted): $280/corner
Bought from: Ozzy Tyres, Hoxton Park
    Size: 225/40-18
    Value /10: 10
    Performance /10: 9
Likes: Previously have had Dunlop Sport Maxx TT and Falcon FK452. From the few hundred Ks I have done so far I can tell you that these tyres are far superior to either the Dunlop or the Falcons. They stick like glue in both the dry and the wet (I live in the Blue Mountains and it rains all the time here, so wet performance is important for me...) and are also the quietest tyre I have had on the MPS, so bonus. They also have an asymmetrical tread pattern so I am not limited to front to back only rotations which can only be a good thing. The sidewalls are very stiff, so highly responsive.
Dislikes: Due to stiff sidewalls I now feel every little bump, but this is the sacrifice for good handling...
Wear: Expected 30000 (tread wear rating is 260)
