Once again you have excelled yourself on a job well done Craig..

The sales of the 3, 6 and superb figures from the CX7 have done well for Mazda but alas Hyundai has a larger model range, cheaper prices and has now skipped ahead...

and as for those grapevine rumours of a 3 spec upgrade would you like to share anything buddy....

Talking to a Mazda Dealer on Wednesday - he told me he has only a few Mazda3's left before the update model. He also hinted at there being no price increase due to competition with the Mitsubishi CJ Lancer. Updated Mazda6 also on way.

We also talked re new Mazda 6 and dealers pushing for the more powerful than an MPS6 V6 version of the new Mazda6 to be imported. Still not 4wd though.

Yes...well they have 3 spec levels, 2 engines and both hatch and wagon.

and a pricetag heaps cheaper than mazda with more options.

Not if you compare apples with apples. The mazda 3 would be beating the Hyundai by a mile if you compare it correctly. Personal buyers to personal buyers.

I think the i30 is only doing well because fleet buyers appear to be moving from the Corolla to the i30. They think the i30 might at least stop lol.

Correct! loads of i30's in Govt fleets over here, particularly the diesel variant. Don't know of any Mazda 3's used as fleet vehicles

I'm blown away by the CX-7 numbers, huge!!!

I'm surprised toyota is still up first on the list.
It's taken them so long to build up a good reputation, yet only a few slips can watch its reputation slide down.
    Interesting post.

and if mazda ventured into the fleet sales it would send the resale prices down.......

That would be great Craig to see the breakdown of how the i30 and Crolla stacks up in the private sales race.....

HIGHLY doubt the 3 would have a facelift after just 12 months.

Subaru have done them in less than 12 months, though that was for the Tribeca, enough said!

In general (as it depends on the type of vehicle) most major changes are every five years, with a mid-life facelift in between.

Spec upgrades are a way of keeping a model competitive and are designed to add value rather than relying on price discounting to sustain sales.

As mentioned above, Subaru approach this slightly differently by releasing limited edition models relatively frequently.
