    Hi guys

    just a few questions about the mps. I have the 6 mps and was wondering how I get a louder spool noise.

    Cheers

    cold air intake(CAI) or short ram intake(SRI)

    Basically. But you need to be careful about the diameter of the piping. If it is larger than stock you may get some strange issues (cutting, flat spots etc).

    you can look at an SRI (Short Ram Intake) like this;
    http://mpsgarage.com.au/shop/product...ke-system.html
    Easier to install and remove, less restrictive than stock.

    Or a CAI (Cold Air Intake) like this;
    http://mpsgarage.com.au/shop/product...ir-intake.html
    Harder to install, generally get lower IAT (Inlet Air Temp)

    Yep.

    After going in some of the Cairns boys MPS3's with SRI's I can say the induction noise is great.

    Love my induction noise with the CP-e CAI, sometimes at low revs sounds like an angry vacuum cleaner, but as the revs build the sound gets sweeter! Have to take you for a spin one day

    Wouldnt a CAI system mess with the cars Air intake sensors? I remember on my Falcon i had the CAI completly messed up the fuel economy

    That's cause the CAI you bought probably wasn't meant for your falcon, or was poorly built. In our cars the air sensor or MAF works off electrical signals based on the rate of air that passes over it. But in order to do this, it must know the volume of air, which is determined by the size of the diameter of the CAI or SRI. If you get one too big, then you're getting more air than the ECU thinks, and opposite for too small. That's how you mess up your air fuel ratios. Get a CAI/SRI that's designed for your system and you will be fine.

    Also if you want the loudest induction sound, get one made of metal rather than silcon/plastic.

    I love the induction noise with my CES SRI (or K&N pod filter in a custom heat sheild) with my 6MPS. The turbo whistle, factory blow off valve and induction roar are great now that the pod is in place. The sound of the suble factory valve being present now after ditching the factory airbox was the reason I didn't install an aftermarket one.

    It's a bit hard to hear on this, but here's an example of a CAI fitted to a 6 MPS

    Another member (Jeev) has cut a big hole in the air box. He gets a better induction noise.

    What you can do is cut a big hole in the bottom of the Air Box

    and get some Crinkle Tube similar to this from Super Cheap Auto

    Except its plastic

    feed the bottom of that in to the airbox where you cut the like sized hole..

    and then feed the other end to the front Airdam

    if you want to create a airram effect you can add one of these to the end of it..

    PVC Drain Rain/Leaf Catcher or similar to act as a air ram

    Obviously you can paint it black to hide it all away

    but i did something similar on my GTI Golf before i went full Blown CAI

    Can't say I would recommend that. New a member from OMC that did that ... ended up with a nice bit of hydrolock!!!
