Thread: How long did your original MPS (6, 3 Gen I or II) brake rotors last?

  1. #1

Question How long did your original MPS (6, 3 Gen I or II) brake rotors last?

    G'day guys,

Im hitting the 67,000kms mark in my 6 MPS.
Noticed the brakes are getting a little less bitey of late and when hot they have a little bit noise to them when slowing down below 20kph.

Think it may be time for new front rotors soon
Still on the original rotors all round and brake pads.

    What about others out there?

How long did your rotors last? (front and\or rear)

How long did your pads last? (front and\or rear)

I changed my fronts recently at 57,000 kms to DBA 4000 slotted rotors and Mintec pads - Thank you Aaron and Daniel @ MPS Garage for your service and advice

So far very happy with the new brakes stops well again!

Rears are fine and have ages to go

67k kms is a reasonable result. I just had my disc machined @ 23k kms & still not happy it .
I've been advised by a few on this site that it is quite common.

So I'm also purchasing the DBA 4000 slotted series with the HPX pads..........

My original fronts lasted 50,000km on OEM pads. I now run std DBA's and they have over 50,000km on Greens and were recently machined and should be good for another 50,000km if the Hawks are not too agressive.

My rears are still original at over 100,000km on OEM pads and there is no measurable wear on them. Rotor wear on the rear will probably increase now I'm running Hawk pads.

Had my fronts (rotors and pads) done recently at 53k.

    Car feels much better.

Went with OEMs. Was keen to try others (like DBA etc), but my service manager got me the OEMs cheaper, so I just went with that...

I've changed the title of this thread to include all Mazda MPS vehicles, so when posting information can you please include the type of MPS you have.
    Thanks

    Changed my OEM pads @75K
Now using MPS Garage Hawk pads...

130K on the clock...still have heaps of pad left....and rotors are original

Its still brakes hard without a prob and no fade.

Will think about new rotors and pads soon, but as i rarely brake...im very happy for now.

    Rear are still stock

    Happy Motoring

Don't say 40k, I'm not ready yet, lol. Though I am eyeing off the Hawk ceramicson MPS Garage for the ultra low dust. But that is for another thread.
