Thread: Rotors

    Default Rotors

MPS3..........looking to replace my rotors front & back. lots of options ie. Rotora, Dba, Disc Italia & Stop tech just to name a few. lots of information & they all seem to be alike & all seem to steer away from the cross-drilled rotors.

Some feed back would be great on some or all of the above options. $ wise there isn't that much difference. Been mentioned that most rotors are sourced fron the same outlets & marketed differently??????

Someone shed some light on this......

    Mucho appreciated

    By the way,

does anybody have access to the specs for the front rotors. I'm also looking @ a 2-Piece product from Performance friction Brakes. Just spoke to the dude & looks like quality gear. Around $1k for front dimpled rotors. They area step down from the racing equivalent. Take a look Performance Friction Brakes

    Thanks

after a sh*tload of research i've decided to go with the DBS 4000 series slotted. Man there are sooooooo many rotors it makes your head spin........

Won't put them on until warranty expires......

I dont think it will be an warranty issue

Hama3, we have had a lot of customers use DBA street series & 4000's, Then supplying them back to Mazda for them to install with their service.
None of which have any problems, Even using Hawk pads.
Most Mazda dealers know of our products & when the product will effect your warranty I'm sure your dealer will inform you When you supply them the part.

Will the QFM HPX pads be sufficient for DBS 4000 series slotted rotors? I purchased them about a month ago & they have done less than 100kms...............

Ah yep... unless you do track work the HPX (Bendix Ultimate equivalent) will be MORE than enough. Only if you were doing track work would I step up to the extra expense of the A1RM.

What's the next step up from HPX (Bendix Ultimate equivalent) given the same use.ie not track work just street?

Given that your pads are on your car with the rotors at the moment & your saying that you are having trouble with rotors now.
I would suggest that you start fresh new rotors & pads at the same time.
This will give you the best result, as using an old pad on a new rotor, will take some time for the pad to bed in. As the old pad will have the profile of the old rotor, therefore not have full surface area contact.
Either drive it until you can't handle it no longer, or pay rotors & pads at the same time.
The most popular combo at the moment would be
    4000 slotted front

    & Hawk HPS pads
    http://www.mpsgarage.com.au/shop/pro...s,-front-.html

This is the same as my car, but I have them in front & rear.
By far the best result for the money!

The next step up is the A1RM. There's absolutely no need to go to the A1RM unless you want some serious brakes, or do track work.

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?

Had DBA 4000 slotted installed yesterday with my old pads front & rear (HPX). Everything seems to be fine except when I brake gently to go up my driveway or just a gentle squeeze aroud a round-a-bout. I seem to get this loud vibration drone. Is this an issue with the pads because the pads may have worn to the other rotors & I'm not getting 100% surface area of the pad???? It quite annoying & very load.

That would be my guess! You'll ALWAYS get noise and vibration when pads don't have at least 90% full surface contact. If the other rotors weren't perfectly flat, then that could be causing your problem.

Was it happening with the other rotors?

Yes it was, but only with the new pads...........I had the stock rotors machined under warranty as they were warped & then had the stock pads put back in & no trouble......... I've spoken with a friend & he has advised me to take it for long drive & try to waer in the pad with some 110-20km braking x 6times. that might get the pads to at least 90% surface area on the rotors........

    Agreed.
