Default 6MPS the journey begins with tyres and suspension

Hi there, I have just purchased a 6MPS, I was a 6 owner a couple of years agao and always lusted after the MPS so when the opp came up recently I jumped on it.
I like to modify my cars subtly so thought I would start with a tyre upgrade as all 4 are just about illegal and then move to suspension as she sits a little high right now.
After reading the forums I have decided on a 225/45/18 and the best deal I can find is a set of Dunlop Direzza 101's.
Has anyone had experience with these, the price seems good for this quality of tyre at $270 a quarter.
Also I would like to lower my MPS about 30mm to close that gap and firm her up a bit.
I have previously used KMac in Sydney but can anyone else recommend a supplier in Sydney to get these done.
Thanks, sorry such a long first post!

    GDay Aphelion,

    Welcome to the forum.

I bought some second hand king springs (super low) off another forum member and they did exactly what you mentioned - Lower the 6mps by about 30mm.

I am really happy with the result and would recommend this mod as a subtle mod.

Tyres I am unable to help with sorry.

I hope you enjoy your 6 as much as I am mine!

Unsure if you want to change wheels but an 8" wide rim and new tyre combined with your lowering would be great.

Otherwise, grab some 225/45/18's on the stock rims and get some lowering springs, the tyres can be transferred to wider rims later on.

    Welcome!

    Welcome mate.

I think alot of 6mps owners have similar ideas to yourself regarding modifying this car.
    I certainly do

I paid 250-260 per tyre for my kuhmo ecsta spt's 215 that Is tho.

check out Mals car he recently had it lowered etc etc

Also yeh if/when u decide to change your rims go 8" wide as you have many many more tyre options 234/40/18 is the 6th most common size in Australia apparently and the rolling diameter puts it almost smack bang on same speedo reading as stock

Thanks very much for all the welcomes. I think I will try the Dunlop's and report back on what they are like once I have settled in to them.
Seems a few people have been down to Heasman's so maybe that will be my next stop.
Looking forward to meeting you all sometime.

    and enjoy the subtle mods

I had Kings Springs and they were very good, but had an opportunity to get some Cusco Coilvers which I've lowered the ride about 45mm all round, was able to sell the Kings to another member very quickly. Overall I'm probably happier with Cuscos even though the ride is firmer.

I had a lot of diff issues with non standard tyres so I've gone back to stock which seems to have eliminated my problems, I know of a few MPS 6's on 225/45/18 with no problems, so maybe it was just mine Anywya good luck with the tyres and springs
    R36 - Just like an MPS6 except with a growly V6

I have fitted the Dunlop's now and so far am very impressed with them. Apart from the huge increase in grip (old tyre's were pretty bad) I have noticed much reduced road noise over the Yoko's that were fitted previously.
I will report back with further details once they have worn in and when I have lowered the car a little.
Thanks for all the replies and advice.

Glad to hear the change seems to be all good.

I will be interested to hear how the tyres go in the long term as I will be looking for a quality and value tyre when my no-name ones wear out.
