Thread: Toyota Caldina

  1. #1

    Default Toyota Caldina

I have been seeing a few off these cars going around...

They actually look like the new 3MPS.

Today i was at sunnybank and actually got to see one stationary.

To my eyes...i found they were a toyota.

Now i thought toyota didnt have sporty cars anymore....

    I was WRONG.

    3rd generation (2002-2007)Toyota Caldina GT-Four

    2002 Toyota Caldina GT-Four

The all-new Caldina of September 2002 is a pure sports wagon, and does not share body panels with Allion, Premio, and Avensis. Engines for the Caldina are 1.8 L 1ZZ-FE, 2.0 L 1AZ-FSE, or 2.0 L turbo 3S-GTE. Trim levels are 1.8 X, 1.8 Z, 2.0 Z, 2.0 ZT, and 2.0 GT-Four (the later is coded ST246). There is also a MKII Model years 2005-2007 with Minor refresh was given to them. All models have automatic transmission and the GT-Four only comes in tiptronic transmission. They all also have an electronic handbrake system. With the discontinuation of Celica, the Caldina was one of sportiest Toyota models sold in Japan.

Production of the 3rd generation Caldina ended in 2007. That was also the end for both the 3S-GTE engine and the "GT-Four" moniker in Toyota's lineup.

As a tribute to Toyota motor sport development guru and the creator of the first GT-Four, Hiromu Naruse, a Special edition Caldina GT-Four was produced. The Caldina GT-Four “N” edition. (N for Naruse). This model was equipped with Several Performance enhancements specified by Hiromu Naruse. - Improved shocks and altered spring ratings - Front suspension strut brace - Torsen rear LSD - Recaro front seats and interior trim.
    191 kW (256 hp) @6200 rpm
    324 Nm (239 ft·lbf) @4400 rpm

my mate who drives a supra is looking for a family car and has been trying to convince me how great the styling is of the Caldina,

they do have some good engines and setups but you don't just drive the engine, you drive the style too
