Thread: New to the forum

  1. Default New to the forum

Hello, i have an 2008 3 MPS with updates.
Have done almost 50000 kms now and love the car.
I have had no trouble whatsoever.

I have been reading about the CAI mod and it has me interested.

This certainly shouldnt effect the warranty?

Anyway i will try to dig up some pics to post.
    Cheers

A SRI or CAI CAN effect your warranty. That said i just whacked a SRI on my car (its freakin awesome by the way) and it was only a 20 minute job to get the old airbox out and the sri on so you could swap it out before services etc.

Thanks Guys, where in Melbourne is a good source for SRI or CAI. Which one nets the most gain?
I might whack one on and change it back for my servicing.

    Welcome!!!

yup as MPSmatt said..it can affect your warranty. It really depends on which dealer you go to. Some are happy with smaller mods some not at all.

Jury's out on the SRI/CAI debate. I'm on the mazdaspeed forums (MPS in the US) and trust me they get into fistfights about it. Here is the debate about it. CAI vs SRI - Mazdaspeed Forums
Frankly I think its down to preference and the weather.

MPSgarage is one of the sponsors here i think. If you are looking for a retail shop, I think some of the other guys here know where to get them. I'm looking to fit an SRI myself, just need the willpower to do so.

Where are you from in Melbourne anyhow?

Thanks Mech81 i will have a read of that info.

I actually stumbled upon this site over the weekend and was very thankful that a site is dedicated to these cars!

    I am in Cranbourne South.

I might give Berwick mazda a buzz and see what they think about the intake mod.

    Welcome to the forum mate.

Check out Troy (2XS). He has a good SRI..bit expensive...but the gains are more than a little impressive.

The CES one is expensive. The 2XS one is somewhat cheaper

    Nice colour choice

Hey Mech81, that link you sent me goes on forever!
Boy there is some arguing to be had over the two setups!

Can anybody sent me the dyno results of both of these systems?

    Cheers

SRI is good for cleaning the filter often and if you have a cold air pickup. I suggest you have it sheilded or boxed.

CAI is good if you don't have a lot of water crossings.

Dyno results are pretty much the same for SRI and CAI.
