    Default Boom statistics

Some people are talking about (tuned) engines going pop for reasons unknown like it's a daily occurrence.

I thought it might be interesting to poll people. Pretty simple, has your engine popped FOR REASONS UNKNOWN?

So if you had a botched gauge install and cooked your motor that's a NO.

Thought it might put things in perspective which seems to get lost when people imagine their engine going pop and read about it.

HERE HERE - I have never seen or rebuilt an engine that didn't explode for no reason at all.

I can only think of a few rebuild's that I have done that weren't due to driver abuse

    1. brand new engine where the rod nuts had not been tightened. Holden 202
    2. Brand new 350 Chev - Main bolts not tightened
    3. Grey Holden with a broken Crank, reco engine didn't even get out of workshop
    4. Bedford truck 253 engine broke a crank - only 100 miles on clock

I could also list the abuse blown motors, but there are so many, here are just a couple:-

    1. Police XU1 over rev - rod out through block into alternator
    2. 350 Chev - rod out through block - had a blown head gasket but the owner kept driving - next morning hydraulic lock and bang

I should have made a category for "oops" events. "Something went bang because..."

And yeah, kinda need every MZR to vote. The point is that pop events are not going to be common overall. And then when you have broad samples and a few "YES - I had this happen", then you start comparing the circumstance.

    If they'll share.

And you have to consider not just the type of mods they applied but also what they were aiming for. My bet is they were aiming for and regularly looking to utilize high rpm gains.
