hey reedy run 29psi cold and 32-34 hot on track, they heat up easily tho, pressures make a huge difference to the out right grip on the track tho...

dont run more than 5 lap stints as you can overcook them but you will find they stabilise once hot and get really gummy and sticky watch your PBs drop by a few seconds

Yokohama S Drives ordered through Tire Rack in US. arrived today.

Took 7 days to get to Cairns. Their service was great and I have a set of quality tyres for $850 delivered.

    Fitting 1st thing Sat morning!

I'm glad I went that way Micky. K Mart Auto in Smithfield fit and balanced them for $60. They were more than happy to do it.

    So I end up with;

    Front: 225/40/18.
    Rear: 245/35/18.

BC Coilovers are set reasonably firm so nil rubbing at the rear. Soon will roll rear guards and drop it a little more.

Same spec Col has on MADAZ and after considering many options, decided on this. I'm stoked I did.

Got my new rubber today (KU36's), love the way they feel already even though the wheel alignment isn't done yet.

Been running these on mine for about 6 months Linda, great tyre for the price, and very sticky, I have noticed they like a bit of heat in them before they really stick like the proverbial.
Just keep an eye on pressures and frequent wheel rotations / alignments to maximize their shorter than average lifespan.

Hey Leelu did you go 235 wide? or did you stay with 225? Also any QLD'ers out there that have used option1garage? They seem to be very reasonably priced!

I bought 2 sets 1 X KU36 235/40/28 and some Hiro's 225/40/18 for the missus but didn't get them fitted there. They were easy to deal with. good price too just can' pass them up.

    Care to comment Linda ....

I've used Option1Garage for all my KU36's and haven't had too much trouble in the past; however after seeing what they did recently to someone's wheel, I'm very much rethinking using them again

I was happy with the price and service, had KU36's fitted with Option1 Garage last Monday arvo. What i'm not happy with is finding a decent size scratch about 30cm long around the edge of my front LH rim and several rattle gun chips on all 4 rims. I noticed it Friday night while washing the car I'll be making a phone call tomorrow.

I went with the 235's, am liking the way they feel and look on the car. How much wear I get out of them will determine whether I get them again. Tyre wear was a bit of a sore point with the OEM tyres for me, only got 19,000 out of them.

Will 235 fit on a stock gen ii rims?

Reason I ask is because tirerack gives the optimum rim width for a 235 between 8-9.5inches. The gen ii rim is 7.5inches.

Would this be a problem? I'm a newbie so excuse the dumb question.

Hey Jeev were you referring to the damage to Leelu's wheels? That's a bit worrying, maybe I should take them elsewhere to fit? Any thoughts? Other shops won't have issues with fitting 235's to gen2 7.5" rim would they?

It's likely some will have a problem with it - 235 on 7.5" wide wheels is unwarrantable in 99/100 examples. The tire shops I've done work for will all tell you they won't fit it out of safety concerns.

It amazes me how often these things need to be said :
Check the tyre specifications from the manufacturer. If the manufacturer says no, DON'T.

That's why manufacturers publish specifications! So you can make an informed decision.

It's also why tyre shops, at least most here, will refuse to fit it : A serious problem could see them held liable.

Its just the same story really with the 7" rims, they say 225/45 is legal fitment and 225/40 is not. for the 7.5" rim they say 235/45 is legal fitment and 235/40 is not .... end of day lots of ppl fit 225/40 to 7" rims so its much of a muchness IMO ... and 235/40 is a much cheaper size to be buying tyres in

    Thanks Matt.

I've been advised to run 40 in the fronts and 36 in the rears and will be a little more diligent with checking the pressure of my tyres more regularly this time around. I made sure I had the rotations and wheel alignments done with the OEM tyres but was a little lax with checking the pressure in them. All part of the learning process for someone who knows very little about cars cept how to check the oil and water, how to change a tyre and how to make it all sparkly and shiny . Oh and thanks to a good teacher, I now know how to drive through twisties pretty well too .
