Thread: Touch-up paint approach?

  1. #1

    Default Touch-up paint approach?

OK, so I got myself some Mazda "Sunlight Silver" touch-up paint to rectify some small chips in the paintwork.

What's the best application here. Tiny brush? I've heard some suggest a toothpick and just build-up filling chip with that. Also, if you use a brush, what cleaning fluid is required to lean brush??

    Any experiences muchly appreciated.

I find a brush works best, I know others that use toothpicks with great succsess.
Any thinners will clean the brush
another trick would be to see if you can get a small amount of 2pac clear to mix in. Metallic colours go dull when dried without the clear

I've used the toothpick approach more than once, works a treat

BUT also, I've had a really really fine art brush, used that now. Easy as to apply. I throw them away once I've used them once.

I just use the big bottle brush to dab a little on the end of the brush and work it in carefully (just in the chip only).

That is a top idea...never thought of that.

Know what you mean about the paint going dull when it dries...have to try that one.

IMO the diameter of the brush on the factory Mazda touch-up paint is too big for stone chips. I've used a toothpick a few times and it works well

Toothpick works a treat and you don't have to clean it afterwards.
