Hi all, im just about to replace my front rotors and pads @ 77k on my MPS3 (2nd set of pads, silly me went factory mazda pads 1st time around then realised wat a rip off they were!!)and im glad i checked here 1st as i was convinced the DBA slotted and cross drilled rotors were the go but as ive just read, they crack easy so ill def go for the slotted only rotors, but im also just wondering if anyone has used these new Hawk ceramic pads at all?? a mate has told me that they only really work well once theyve got some heat in them but im not sure, if anyone has used them id really appreciate some feedback on them... cheers...
RDA have just released their MPS front rotors, and in terms of a single piece rotors, are our pick over the DBA in terms of quality and performance. As you've found DBA are having some quality issues with their rotors cracking, particularly the 4000 series. The RDA's don't seem to suffer the same issues... They should also be miles cheaper too. Prices can be found here:

Or else we can quote up on the DBA.

Cool, thanks for that info, I think I mite have to give GSL a call tomoro and suss out some postage prices.... Cheers....
I put the slotted DBA & hawk pads on about 8ths ago and reckon they are fantastic. still have about 10mm wear left.
Hi Greg, are the RDA slotted and dimpled rotors available for the MPS 6?
For both front and rear?
Think they are sold as the gold passivated turbo grooved sports rotor - they use to be the EBC slotted and dimpled rotors back in the day before RDA bought EBC.
Thanks!
Sorry cainage iternet is down at home!
No squealing, no problems at all with heat, bad wear and i give it a pretty hard time!. I will not hesitate to use these again.
Just had hawk hps fitted to mine. I quite like them, had a few "spirited" drives with some friends up in the dandenongs and had no bad smells or fade. They bite hard when hot but pedals not great when cold. (it's ok but std was better only when cold)
Def choose these over stock everytime.
does anyone know whether the mazdaspeed 3 parts will fit the mps 3....for instance these pads here
HAWK HPS Front Brake Pads, MAZDASPEED 3/6
or even here
MazdaSpeed 3 Brake Parts
some of this stuff is so cheap compared to what mazda australia want

I'm with remotegt,
I had new Slotted DBA rotors with the QFM pads & I wasn't happy with them. I changed to Hawk pads & I've never looked back.
No need to heat these babies up either, they're operate excellently from cold to hot......
That's mt 2 bobs worth..........
Since we are on the brake topic here and I do not want to start another thread just for brake fluid, I thought I will just post my questions here.
I'm about to change my so badly worn out 70,000km stock rotors with DBA slotted rotors & QFM pads. I thought that I will change the brake fluid while I'm at it. Took a look on what on the brake reservoir cap and its state Dot 3 fluid only. My mates explain to me that I can go to Dot 4 but once I do that, I can never go back to DOT 3. My understanding that Dot 4 is a better fluid and more commonly used. So it seems that the way to go!
So before I go ahead to drain the brake fluid, I am concern will it matter if the dot 3 is not completely drained from the system and I pour the dot 4 fluid? As I'll be doing the install at my mate's garage, we do not have a vacuum to suck out completely the current dot 3. My plan is to remove 1 brake nipple and let it drain through there, then top up the reservoir & remove the next brake nipple. In other word, the old dot 3 will not be completely drain out. Probably 95% will. Will that be an issue?
Any feedbacks on brake fluid or how to go bout bleeding the drain fluid will be much appreciated!

If you're worried about brake fluid ratings, just use the genuine Mazda brake fluid over the counter from the local dealer. The wrong brake fluid will damage the seals and cups in the braking system. Is brakes something worth risking wrong advice?
If you want aftermarket fluid, get to a brake specialist and ask their professional opinion on the matter. I did, and was told any thing equal to or above slotted rotors are a waste of money. So I'm rocking standard rotors. Couldn't be happier.
Ask a brake shop for professional advice...

Thanks for that spanner man!
The state of my stock rotors are uneven, grooved, rusty and sounds like Sydney Bus when it stopping at the lights on a hot day. Disgusting.
When I bought the slotted rotors, the price of normal rotors from DBA was more pricey than then the Slotted ones. That I have no idea why! Seller could not explain why as well.
As for fluid, I was hoping that someone on this forum have upgraded their dot 3 to dot 4 on their MPS6 and if they have any issues with it.

Can't find any after market pads for mine I work at bursons any one got Amy idea s not paying wat Mazda want 390 dollars
Hi mate,
The pads which we highly recommend is a European performance pad called Remsa, and what we're slowly using to phase out the previously popular QFM HPX. Remsa is is rated to 650 degrees (versus 550 for the HPX or Bendix Ultimates), whilst still being low dust and rotor wear. Also the Remsa come with noise reducing features such as a relief groove and shamfers in the pad material, as well as a soft backing shim, all of which the HPX do not come with. We've been supplying Remsa to high performance street road cars like Porsche and Ferrari for many years, but the pricing has now become such that we're now able to expand it to most road cars.
Remsa to suit MPS3 are $125 for the front, and $95 for the rear. Also the Remsa are to suit MPS3, not so suit Volvo and modified like the previous QFM pads.
I haven't done up a post for Remsa yet in out trader section, but I will sometime this week.

Ok nice I was leaning toward s ebc cause I do a lot track and strip work with my car got slotted rotors all round would those pads u recommended be ok on slotted rotor s
EBC are great (I have them up front), but they are xpensive. Cost me about $240 (trade price) for fronts alone...
