What spec Oil in Mobil 1 - 6MPS

I am about to get my first service on my second hand 6MPS.

The previous owner used Mobil 1 apparently. I never asked what spec/weight oil he used.

Any suggestions eg 0w/50 or whatever it is. Keep in mind that my car has done 90,000kms so the engine may be a little loose so a very low weight oil may not be a great idea.

Any feedback or suggestion on a better oil would be helpful.

There is a TSB issued by Mazda in the USA that advises to use 5W/40 (synthetic) instead of 5W/30, to reduce the likelihood of smoking.

However it's meant to be temporary until a modified PCV is made available, then 5W/30 should be resumed.

Given that you've got a few miles on it and we're heading into warmer weather I'd suggest a 40 weight.

I currently use Castrol Edge Sport 5W-30, Mobil 1 is also in the same viscoscity. I have heard some of the MPS owners with TBE's and stock grade oil experience minor smoking which diminishes with a 0W-40
