    u know what is going to happen. it is going to b pass the buck time. they will blame u in some way or say it is mazda that should pay etc. and it will go back and forward. happened when i got my suspension put in the pulsar. they lowered it too much and gouged one of my brand new tyres. they told me wasnt there fault to get a warranty job with tyre company went to them and they wouldnt touch it. went back and forward and just gave up. put it down to learning experience

    Personally I'd be asking for a brand new motor. Once you start messing with this stuff, it never ends.... It'll never be like before the melt down......

    today i got a phone call!!
    3 options for me!!
    tho yet to be confirmed.. they were!!
    #1 repair current motor which has 80,000kms
    #2 2nd hand motor which has 30,000kms at no cost, obviously has had the checks and will be warranted!!
    #3 brand new motor in which i need to contribute 5k!!

    IMO,

    If i had the option I would go:

    1. new, all the way. 5k is a steal - providing you have the $$.
    2. 2nd hand 30,000 on it - but what has it come out of? a write off?
    3. dont even think about it - refer item 1 or 2 above

    yeh i asked them i want to see the vechicle or know everything about it before install!
    2nd hand is warranted and has all the right checks, i also save 50000kms!!
    not bad for zero, be better than repairing my 80000 motor!!

    All the way with new. with Wardski , to the 1st option repairs.... Just make sure you find out what you get for new Antony...

    They do the checks - of course they do... do they do UT (ultrasonic testing) on the rods, crank and heads? My $$ is on a resounding NO on that.

    Remember, a certain nug blew with only 30-35,000km on it.

    And how long is the warranty on the 2nd hander?? It'll be like a box of chocolates... you never know what u gonna get.

    ***also, if you go new, chances are you might find you get the latest 2.3ltr which has a few minor changes to the PCV etc which is a win win IMO***
