Hitech co-developed it with STi Australia. It doesnt require a tune, not even a CAI.

Power increase is minimised (maybe 5-7kW), and a little more noise <86dB - which is what I wanted. The exhaust was also guaranteed acceptable by my STi Dealer

I had it ceramic coated too, which keeps the heat down in the engine bay by >60%

The car already drove "insane" before the TBE BTW
you stated with just an exhaust your sti is much better than your mps that had lots of mods but than you say you only got a 5-7 kw gain and let me guess your exhaust was about 2k plus. the real truth should be about 15- 20 kw gain and with a tune the sti will only get 35- 40 kws at the wheels . which will be awesome for the street but with out forged pistons thats it. sadly your sti is no stronger than your mps engine be careful with tuning oh and who are you using for tuning

    I was stiring the pot.

The CES exhaust on the MPS was good, but totally unrestricted - which meant an Xede and tune was in order to keep it all stable. Some people even needed to upgrade their fuel pumps - I didnt tho, but others were running over 17-18 psi.

The STi Hitech exhaust is still quite restrictive, keeps it close to stock but with a little more noise. They are expensive (like the CES), but then it depends on who you know, not what you know. I got mine for a steal

I agree there have been some issues in the US with the 2.5ltr motor, mostly ringland issues - and most of the guys have stage 2 and above mods - fully tricked up with tunes, the whole shibang a bang. Not much heard over here or on the Aussie Subaru forums, and I seem to have a build date that doesnt coincide with any blown motors. Either way, what ever happens, its a warranty job - another reason why not to touch the ECU.

If you want your MPS properly tuned tho (and make sure you get a plug in harness - no splicing of cables!!), get it done at APC Racing in underwood. They have proven MPS maps for the Xede - and my dynograph remains king on the wall.

You got a link, im intersted to have a read?

Mind you, 1 gone bang out of over 2500 sold in Australia. thats pretty good. I bet it was driven to the redline every day. I bet the oil was changed every 12,500km too (bad mistake should be every 4000-5000km). There are a lot of factors that can cause a motor to go boom. Just ask the MPS community.

BTW, a TBE doesnt void your warranty unless proven that it caused it. A TBE wont be the contributing factor to Ringland, especially when Subaru's black box maps how you treat your car...

There are plenty of Evo Xs going boom in Aus also (I've hear of 3 already - must be the new motor), so... take care because you'll also wanna avoid the Catastropic Pedal Failure too http://www.themotorreport.com.au/458...o-do-anything/

PS, I had an 07 MPS with 8k of premium mods (TBE, CAI, Xede, 225/40/18s). It was good, it was quick - in 3rd gear & beyond, but 1st & 2nd gears had me totally disappointed, not to mention the torque steer was pretty bad.

Compared to my old MPS tho, my 09 STi with the Hitech TBE is totally insane - and thats without a stage 2 tune!

Me loose? Me dont think so
Trust me mate were gunna do battle ill put $1000k up front your 09 sti against my 07 3 mps on a race track in bris if u like .

    EPIC FAIL

No chance of winning that race...even if The Stig was driving the 3MPS and your mamma was in the scooby STi.

Still waiting for that link... while i've been waiting 2000MN and I have been viewing all the Evo X blown motor threads around (you cant miss them!).... they've also had ringland issues. Take it or leave it, every motor will fail. Depends on how you treat it, respect it, rub it, and put it to bed at night. I've been around cars long enough, rebuilding them, tweaking them, modding them to know this goes without saying.

Boost spike.. well you should know that "over boosting" occurs when theres too much free flowing air from the CAI to the tail pipe. I hate to tell ya, but I'm still using the stock airbox and filter, and the backpressure still exists in the TBE as well. I would be scared if I bought anothe CES system for the STi - especially after the MPS one. If anything, I've made the car richer (and it shows, up from 10l/100km to 12/100 on consistantly the same drive). If the TBE was leaning her out, I'd be getting better milage, and this is certainly not the case. I've also had the Dashhawk on the STi (before and after) and the AFR's and boost readings are pretty much the same.. Massive reductions in heat tho, thanks to the TBE ceramic coating. I cant say enough positive things about ceramic coatings!

Also, I dont track my cars, maybe you do being in motorsport. Tracking is one of the easiest ways to shorten the life of a car full stop, especially when the pros do pretty much a full engine rebuild after each race. Performance Cars we buy for $40+ arent designed for tracking - even the 150k GT-R R35's, no matter what people say.

I'll take your advice on the chin, but I dont think there'll be any motors blowing in my house anytime soon, and even if they did, I could afford to buy 10 of them...

I beat Wardski's STi the other week...

We were reversing out of his driveway, my car was closer to the road. Take that Wardski! Nahh nahh Slow dak-dak driver

    -------

A mildly modded MPS could see off an STi, would need a substantially better driver in the MPS however. With equal driver ability the MPS would get hosed...most of us realists understand that.

Default Epic fail maybe maybe not!!!!!!

OK BOYS LETS CLARIFY A FEW DETAILS
    1. The challenge was between WARDSKI,S STI with him driving and my MPS with me driving
    2. am i correct that his sti is stock my mps is modified
    3. I didn,t come down in the last shower i know the sti being all wheel drive is the more tech advanced car , but has wardski actually got the race craft and driver skill to beat me on a race track ,THAT IS THE CHALLENGE ,yes he,s got the fancy car but can he drive it ?????
    4. yes i could afford a sti !!! but i luv the mps and i love the challenge win or lose
    5. WARDSKI YOU HAVE TO MATCH THE MONEY I PUT UP in other words put your money where your mouth is ,lets make it $1,000 but if i win u pay my expenses to travel from Cairns to bris and back say $3,000
    6. I encounter wardski,s every day of the week at the makotrac and very few have the skills on the track to back up there big mouths
    7. I don,t care who wins and ill be the first to congratulate Wardski when and if he wins
    8. Enough sabre rattling i would prefer to keep this light hearted and good natured at the end of the day its just a bit of fun that makes life more interesting
    9. I have 35years kart racing experience ,i am twice aust 250 superkart champ ,iam inviting wardski or maniac to my back yard the race track
    10. its up to you mate are u in or are u out???
