    Default Coilover options ?

Ok peoples i'm about to start modding the 6MPS , anywho i was originally going to get lowererd springs but am starting to think about coilovers,
even thou they are alot more expensive i like the adjustability ( in handling and ride height )
So far the options i have found are Pedders ($1600)
    Tein Fulcrum ($2200)
    BC Mps Garage ($1600)
Anyone had any experience with the above or know any other options or good suspension joints in S.E QLD
    Cheers Todd

Teins are the best IMO, but cost alot more.

I have K-Sport, Cost me $1700, but I can get them for $1400 now.

BC, D2 and G4 are all made in the same factory in China, I would steer clear of them.

GSA Wholesale (Slacks Creek) (or me) for the K-Sport or any Fulcrum retailer for the Teins.

I think alot of people just think their not good even though they have never tried them and then word of mouth makes it worse, I know a bloke that races and he has $2750 a corner and he recomended pedders coilovers so I dunno they seem ok, Ill find out after I get them installed

    Hey Todd,
I've got some Cusco Comp S in my MPS 6, I got these second hand for a lot less than their new price ($3K) Find them pretty good all round, very firm but handling is sweet, they feel much better than my King spring stock shocks set-up and the overall appearance from a ride height perspective is much nicer.
    Cheers

BC's are not made with those other brands & they are not made in China.
    I have BC's on my MPS6 & Tein's on my RX2, we all know about the Tein's .
BC's on the 6 have been great, a good spring rate & damping adjustment, with height & bound adjustment.
All the BC's we sell have been revalved for the Australian conditions & we can also set up camber plates on the front for an extra cost.
I have had mine for over a year now without any problems & in this time the car has done a number of track days, so its not just on the road.

how many people actually adjust there coilovers regularly ?

like is there any real advantage over getting some springs and better shocks if your not going to have a proper go at tracking and require the adjustment....

i am just under the impression there a bit of overkill for the street ???

I'm itching to spend money on new suspension so I've been doing some research.

A google search reveals a lot of discussion on forums about failures and poor product support on the chinese brands. So I'm steering clear of them.

BC's from what I can gather are made in Taiwan, which is fine by me.

The Pedders XA's are very similar to the BC's but they also have adjustable rebound which the BC's don't seem to have. ( However I generally consider damper adjustability a bad thing because hardly any one has the specialised equipment to get them properly matched, resulting in uneven damping)

Obviously the XA's are not made by Pedders, so I wondered where they are sourcing them. If they are chinese they're off the short list. But they have so many similarities to BC's I wonder if that's where they come from?

If you look past the model-specific and brand differences, they look like they come from the same factory................

I will stand corrected on the BC, I know the D2 and G4 come from China, but, there is another brand that comes from the same factory, just labeled slightly different. I will find out exactly.

I'm just saying steer clear of the Chinese made coil-overs.

The thing about about Pedders for such a well known (well advertised) company no one seems to use them, i would love to run the Teins but being on a budget (remember i was originally only getting springs) that probably will not happen, as for being overkill for the street, they probably are
but from other experience lowered springs ride pretty rough and you can never get that perfect ride height

Another thing to consider Todd is that a set of lowered springs alone will probably shorten the life of the old shocks considerably. So there are really no shortcuts here. You're probably in for a set of CO's or something like a H&R/Bilstein combo.

As for Pedders, they have a dodgy reputation for a whole bunch of reasons. I could tell you some horror stories just from my own personal experience. Their company slogan is more than a little ironic.

Ok does anyone in the Brisbane/Ipswich area recommend a place to have them fitted ? Just spoke to Pedders today and they only want to fit there own and Fulcrum only want to fit Teins (which are probably out of my price range)
P.S Does anyone know the spring rates of the B.Cs ?
the Teins are 8kg front and 5.8 kg rear

The BC's spring rates would be with whom you brought them from.
The kits we sell have been set up for Australia & has it has taken some time in the set up, we wouldn't give this away on the net.
As for the BC's you can buy on Ebay from NZ & other OS locations they are the Taiwan set up with the old springs & valving. There for the price will always look better then ours.
