Thread: CAI for a DE 2

  1. #1

Default CAI for a DE 2

Spas and I have looked and discuss this over a few but it would be nice if we could get one of our sponsors to have a look into it for us...

what size piping are you looking at? I know the Maz 3's have troubles with anything bigger than 3inch (apparently the MAF sensor has trouble and causes the car to stall)

I have 2.75inch in mine and it works like a charm.

Also you might want to look at a SRI as well, smaller and thus cheaper and still nice gains.

It's nothing to do with the MAF sensor having trouble. The MAF sensor is calibrated for a certain size - that's how it's supposed to work. If you increase the size, it still thinks it's measuring x amount of air even though there's more coming through. On the plus side, tuning can be done to recalibrate any size changes in intake.

Thats right, I knew it was something along those lines

It will be interesting to see what the Maz 2 "max" size is for the intake without tuning.

Isnt there any options already for the 2?

I have a really good idea for the CAI too.

    2 options:

    SRI and CAI.

Do you think HPC coating would/should be an option or the norm?

    Would it be nessesary ???

Theres alot of room in the bay of the 2 and heat shouldnt be too much of an issue???

and being a NA it wouldn't produce too much heat either...

Then again I used to remember the intake air on my 3 rise big time when I was stationary but cruising around it would dissipate no problem
