As long as the O2 sensor reads the first cat and it falls within spec you will be fine, the second cat is unregistered by the ECU.
Hey guys,
I have an MPS 3 and am ready to upgrade my exhaust
Im after a system that will increase performance without increasing the sound of the car too much
So, i sent an inquiry to turboxs (as i have heard from a few MPS owners that they specialise in these types of systems). The reply i received outlined, that they change the downpipe and install a high flow cat, while retaining the factory cat back exhaust system. This is supposed to "noticeably increases performance, while only makeing the car sound only slightly louder/meatier than stock"
the whole systme plus install will be $1200
Im just wondering does anyone else have this type of setup?
I have the cp-e 3" DP mated up to a slightly modified stock system (stock rear baffle muffler was replaced with a single chamber sports muffler), Cabin noise is very tolerable even with the wife and kids in the car (sound is a bit meatier & slightly louder than stock) and I am told it sounds great externally, performance is also noticeable.
If its just pure power gains your after, give a chiptorque xede or their new flash a go, these will eclipse the gains from an exhaust, oh and for fear of repeating myself, everyone on these forums knows my thoughts on TXS gear.
Nearly all men can stand adversity. But if you want to test a man's character - give him power.

thanks for reply matt
where abouts did you buy the exhuast from and get the install?
You can run no cats, with a little trick, but its not for the road & will not show any CEL's
cheers guys
Hey guys,
ive been trying to find this information in previous threads but have had no luck
Baisicly, im ready to put an after market exhaust system on my MPS3.
I want a system that will increase performance without increasing the sound of the car too much. I only want the car to sound slightly louder/meatier than stock
I have spoken to a few companies like turboxs and CES, but cant find any vids on youtube of the systems they are describing to me
The corksport and COBB system iv heard are aslo way too loud.
Can anyone recomend an aftermarket system that will increase power while only slightly increasing the noise? Either brand name or custom built.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
When i was in QLD Nirvanadan had the CES?????? downpipe or maybe full TBE and it didnt sound loud to me?
2XS can comment on how loud CES would be
Most of the restriction is in the down pipe so i would say replace that and you should get some decent power gains without too much additional noise.
As said by others if you want extra performance without noise why not get a tune from chip tourqe?? Will get more kw gains than a full exhaust and will probably be cheaper
Im sure others will jump in with suggestions
thing is that i wouldnt mind a little bit more noise than stock. just to make it sound a bit more exciting
After i put the zorst in, my plan is to get a chip+tune from exede
if COBB system is to loud then just replace the DP... the cobb system is about the quietest full TB system there is i think. With the MPS3 though most of your power gains are in the DP.. so just replace that... if after a little more noise maybe delete a muffler or 2..
when i spoke to tubroxs
he said that they install a 3" DP and high flow cat pipeing, leaving the catback exhaust system stock. Giving the car increased perofmance while only slightly increasing the sound
is turboxs any good tho, i have heard mixed comments. some good things, some bad things
the turboxs system plus install was quoted at $1200
Threads Merged.
The CES system has been associated with boost cut on certain cars, primarily due to the divorced wastegate on the downpipe causing boost creep, usually an Xede, or similar is required with this system to lift the factory cut threshold.
Go for a good quality Down pipe (COBB/CP-E) with a cat & leave the rest stock.
You will have good power with out the noise.
Most of the cost will be in the cat, So if there's a cheaper Down pipe it might be a good idea to ask about the cat.

Its all about the location & depth of the sensors.
Pretty sure the DP install is a pretty time consuming job on the MPS........6hrs+
