one that can withstand heat would help
Dunno what was used on mine ?
Bloke said it was just regular car paint ....so far its holding up ok...
Got my stock rims done in Black, thanks Lynchy
I know this thread was MPS3 rims but here's mine. FYI I got a rim repair place here to do it and he took out all my gutter rash too!
So hot shakes now black out those reflectors and indicators and you will officially have the coolest MPS6 in aus.....
Would look so awesome with black grill and spoiler too IMO and a blacked out satin fuel filler door *drools*
Common mod for XR5's lately.... I used ACT Powder Coating in Queanbeyan
Looks hawt!
I spotted champette somewgere the other week!
Thanks Lynchy, Champs yours look great too, nice colour how's the powdercoating holding up?
get some prima wheel guard as they are a beech to clean!
Thanks mate, good point will go and get some. I remember the cleaning the suckers when they were stock but I reckon the black is worth the pain!
oh yeah when there clean the rock...mine need a touch up though a few stone chips
Hi,
Thought I'd share a few of pics with you.
I bought some second hand RX8 wheels, cleaned, repaired, prepped and sprayed with Dupli color Graphite wheel paint, popped out chrome Mazda centre logo and sprayed centre cap.
Set of 235x40x18 Maxxis
sprayed calipers red
My view is painting is cheaper and better than powder coating as you can repair the inevitable future gutter rash
Wow very nice and Welcome btw post an intro thread and tell us a bit more about yourself
I'll challenge that view..... 4 wheels powder coated for $220..... Beat that with paint?
As for repair...... paint will be easier to fix once they are trashed..... but will scratch 3 times easier...... so it is comparable.....
Only thing paint has over powder coating is the range of colours........
im intrested too... but maybe a charcoal colour!!
mine cost 3 tins of duplicolor ($9 each), 3 pieces of various grades of wet & dry ($3) 2 tins of undercoat ($6 each), total $42. and I have enough for touch ups
(less than 20% your cost)
I've done this on 4 cars so far, if done carefully they don't chip.
most cars come with a paint finished wheels, although they are arguably easier to scratch, in reality this isn't an issue.
