Thread: Clutches ???

    Default Clutches ???

After my last stint at Willowbank, and frying my clutch, I'm in no doubt that my next upgrade should be a clutch.

    My questions are:

What does the 3 have std?

What clutch should I get? (for a daily driven car, with occasional track work)

    4/5 puck, single/twin plate.

Should I lighten the flywheel while it's out?

Lightening the flywheel reduces torque? Right? But revs out quicker? If so, I can afford the reduction of torque for the sake of quicker response time.

I'll refill the box with new oil too, but,
What is the best/reasonably priced stuff?

    Anything else while it's out?

Lightened flywheel wil make a BIG difference.

redline mt-90 or motul gear 300 are probably the only gl4 gearbox oils that you can find that are 75w-90, otherwise there is castrol syntrans 75w-85 (not syntrax 75w-90 which is gl5)

best place to get redline is from performancelub.com

you can lighten the flywheel if you want (i am assuming you mean replacing the factory item), but that means you will have to go lightened single mass (factory is dual mass), so you wont so much fry the clutch, just increase the chance of breaking the gearbox

plus you will lose some driveability

i would say exedy sports clutch (or whatever brand tickles your fancy) plus machining the flywheel, although there arent many places that can properly machine dual mass flywheels
