    Default Holden recalls 9000 cars

Almost 9000 Holdens sold in Australia have been recalled to fix a potential problem with the side airbag system.

Holden said there was a risk that the driver's side airbag could deploy when the car is stationary, and the driver is exiting or has exited the vehicle.

It had identified a problem where the airbag attachment within the seat assembly could allow the airbag to come away from the seat frame.

The performance of the airbag could be affected in a crash, it said.

The recall applies to 8792 VZ vehicles sold in Australia including Executive, SV6, SS and Berlina Commodore models, the four-wheel-drive Adventra, the Crewman and the HSV Avalanche.

Holden said it was contacting vehicle owners and they would be asked to take their cars to a Holden dealer for inspection and rectification.

I had a VZ ute for the last company car, flogged the absolute out of it. Awesome for carrying crap, and did wicked drifts in mud. But you almost needed a boat licence to drive the thing.

Technically speaking - No. 4 engine bolt on MZR 3 MPS. (that was of course, when Ford had 20% stake in Mazda)
