    Default Facebook enabled

Hi everyone, as you will be able to see by the facebook connect button at the top of the page and the like links on threads, we have basic facebook integration enabled now, meaning that threads can be liked and shared to facebook, and your facebook logon can be used to authenticate you ozmps logon. If you have an account and enable facebook connect you should associate it with your current ozmpsclub logon. (user/email/password)

A new ozmps account can be created from a facebook logon, but ozmpsclub will still request that you create an an email/username/password logon for ozmpsclub. After the account is created you can either logon to ozmpsclub with facebook, or logon via username/password. For now, this is so you can still access your ozmps account if the facebook integration fails for any reason.

I may add a streamlined facebook registration in future, using facebook only logon has facebook data transferred to ozmps to create the account; in theory you could recover your ozmps account if facebook integration failed by requesting a password reset against the email address provided from facebook. In practice, I am keeping the implementation minimal for now. I would like to provide the one click auto-register logon feature to members of certain facebook pages and groups.

I hope this will help spread some of the ozmpsclub content around the community. I am seeing future reference articles and a technical section on the "magazine" website, along with sections for vendors, service agents to create a one stop "service maintain and mod my mps" AU registry of all that is MPS.

Just a quick addendum : The facebook integration only works if you are accessing the website by https:// if you aren't already https then clicking the logo in top left corner will take you to https:// if you have bookmarks you should update them to use https. There are still some links through the website that remain http, and your browser will not yet report a perfect security status when you are using https:// because of this - generally (chrome/firefox/edge) this is represented by a green padlock or an info bang (!) next to the URL in the address bar. Depending on your browser you will see a variety of messages here, the main gist being that "parts of this page are not secure"

If you happen to be on http and click the facebook connect button, it may not work. If you have already logged in with facebook it will not continue to function on pages where the site is being accessed as http.

So if you are having trouble getting it to work and no response from the FB connect button, try clicking the top left logo to switch to https:// and try again - check your shortcuts or bookmarks, or manually add the s to https:// in the address bar.
