    Default New wheels time

Well I've discovered my BK's wheels - Enkei RPF1 18x7.5+48 in Silver may be up for replacement. Probably can be reconditioned but have a newly discovered crack (that isn't leaking) and was already considering reconditioning two - one for rash and one with trivial - barely measurable - flat spot. Since I might be up for reconditioning three, and two have been reconditioned once before, think it might be time to replace. I can't get Silver RPF1 in this size from AU suppliers - I'd have to import myself which looks set to cost more than replacement wheels from AU sources so...

Also have a BL with stock wheels. Considering swaps between the vehicles and coating the BL wheels white to go with the aurora blue BK. Or maybe going something just for the BK but leaning towards wheels for the BL and hand me down OEMs to the BK. BL is red series2 with black OEM wheels....Short listed choices:

    ENKEI TS9 18x8 +50 5-114.3 Black
TS9 18x8+50 black to fit to BL shod with 225/40 or 235/40 R18

TS10 18x8+50 black to fit BL shod with 225/40 or 235/40 R18 - These are my current favorite, leaning towards this.

Interested in seeing some of these sizes as fitted, gauging BL fitment, likelyhood of guard rolling etc being needed, and hearing suggests for other manufacturers. Haven't found another manufacturer I like styles from just yet.

Ended up picking SSR GTX-01 : none of the above! Going to be an interesting fitment.

weight = 8.9Kg ea which is a little over 1Kg more than the ultra-light Enkei RPF1 they are replacing on this vehicle.

I've decided to hand the RPF1 down to the BL after reconditioning. Will have the RPF1 recoated white.

Finally test fit the GTX01 shod with 235/40R18 to the BK3 today. Stance is fantastic; no poke flush fit. Needs some guard work and an additional 0.5 to 1 degree of negative camber at the rear. Front seems to be no dramas. Rear not so much. Rolled the guards - problem area is the seam between the rear quarter panel and the rear bumber.

This isn't unexpected - I chose the fitment knowing it was going to be approaching the limits of what you can do being perfectly roadworthy with ideal handling gains - this was always going to be the problem area.
I'm expecting an offset bushing will achieve the small amount of additional camber the fit requires. Panel and trim work would probably also be able to accommodate the fit without needing additional camber however I'm going to use both. I'll add the bushing first, then get panel work done, and then adjust the bushing to minimize the additional camber. I'm expecting an additional -0.5 deg when all is done.

Limiting the suspension travel could also help, but I'm looking to apply perfectly practical street use and don't want to do that.

Will post before and after pics when done.

Need some panel work at the rear and possibly -0.5deg camber to guarantee no rubs anyware, ever, in a street suspension setup - i.e. full travel and midrange damping and springs similar to OEM.
Apparent height isn't accurate - drivers rear was sitting lower due to weight in boot and height adjustment - will drop the front a little once rear fitment is sorted.
    Thanks to DHF Tyres

Latest is that it's a lot better after as complete a guard roll as possible - past the rear corner and the bumper lip trimmed back about 5mm, there is still the faintest of rub in the same location in heavy suspension compression scenarios - i.e. hitting significant bumps and undulations in the road at 100Km/h , so will be installing offset camber bushings to get a further -0.5 degrees camber, which will totally clear in all scenarios, through the complete suspension travel.

Final alignment and height adjustment yesterday. Rear total camber is currently -3 degrees with the +/-1deg camber bushing installed and adjusted to add 0.5 deg negative. Really happy with the stance, pics when it's clean
