Thread: new exhaust system

    Default new exhaust system

hey guys..well ive saved up enough money now to buy me an exhaust.
Im just going for a cat back at the moment but was wondering whether its better going to custom made route or the branded route.
i was looking at the GHL SS 'drone free' 3inch cat back from therpmstore and really love the sound when on WOT and sounds good at idle.

are there any advantages or disadvantages on going the custom route?

Why are you gonna go a catback if you dont mind me asking ??

if you've saved up enough why not go the DP and get some gains?

The 3 inch from the RPM store is expensive as ...

For that price you could get the CPE downpipe and the CPE Catbck ....

For that price you could get a much cheaper custom Catback made to sound however you like ....just make sure you find a quality shop

    Just my thoughts?

Why not support Oz and buy a CES system. I work there. We do TBE and Cat back too. I will get a price for you if you want.

Lynche - from one ACT member to another.

If you go the CES Racing TBE route you need to have it tuned immediately! PM me about where.

For everyone else be aware that the CES TBE requires the O2 harness for the second sensor to be extended. Its not a problem to get that done, but it needs to be done by a good auto electrician.

When mine was fitted the extension was done poorly - the guy soldered it and ruined the stock sensor. Then we fitted a universal sensor to try and save some cash (different shop) - but it didn't read within specifications. So I ended up having to buy a Mazda OEM sensor.

The system itself is brilliant. Almost to good! The guys that have been ironing the bugs out of my car said 'You have bought yourself a very good exhaust that is almost too free flowing (divorced wastegate design).'

The CES system due to the design is more prone to boost spike - my car was seeing 23psi so you need something to control the boost spike or you get boost/fuel cut.

Options are Xede or I guess a Boost controller.

2XS - I'm not trying to talk smack about the CES system. I think it is brilliant, great noise under throttle and quiet while cruising. I just want to make sure everyone is aware of the other costs they will or could come into with the system.

    CES TBE

My cars output. Add the TBE and Xede to the list in my signature. Mild tune - Could have gone for a lot more.

    DP can be purchases separately.

No need for a GB, All OzMPSclub members can get a discount if purchased directly from me (not from CES though)

Nirv has no aftermarket MAF housing.

All parts can be purchased separately, If you want the DP and mid pipe, I can arrange that for you.

The DP and midpipe don't bolt directly to the factory system, only the cat back has provisions for the stock DP and cats.

The retail for TBE is $2650.

Regarding the fuel/boost cut, If you have an aftermarket MAF housing (larger than standard and/or without the air straighteners) you will get the cut. I had the system fitted with a 3" MAF housing and had the cut. As posted by Nirvandan "I have the CES TBE (from 2XS's car) with no fuel/boost cut" See, it does work.

    For all interested parties:

I will be selling my DP only in the next 8-10 weeks. PM with your interest and I will notify you when I'm removing it.

Is there a dump pipe + mid pipe available for the MPS 6?
If so what is the price?

How much different is the 6 from the 3 in terms of DP?

I don't know other than CPE have different part numbers for the 6 and 3.

The 6 and 3 DP are quite different.

The fuel cut from the CES is due to the divorced wastegate design, as Crusher said, it's almost too efficient. In terms of ultimate performance, that's what you'd want to go as opposed to the standard design. The issue however is, depending on your mods, you can spike too high which will cause you to get boost cut. While it can be partially attributed to the DP, as this is one of the mods which change boost characteristics, it is to do with the ECU and the way it handles boost.
Nuliaj: Hatches are only really half a car anyway.

There is also another factor here. You are in Brisbane, Lynchy and I are both in a much colder environment with higher barometric pressure. My intake temp yesterday was 11 boost temp 22.
